  1. Yep, this is mine. Fits in my hand nicely, replacement blades are easy to change, and cheap as, but I also sharpen the old ones on a stone to extend their life. I also use it to score the skin on a roast Pork
  2. Has anyone done scalloped edge belt blanks, as in a curvy edge ? If so, what is the easiest way to cut them? Or is it just a matter of make a template, trace, cut etc. ? And, unless I was seeing things, I thought Tandy did scalloped edge belt blanks 'way back 'once upon a time' , I thought I saw them in an old Tandy catalogue. They would make a nice alternative to straight cut blanks and they look good with western concho's. HS
  3. Its not the first time I'd be looking for them....and they're on my head
  4. Thats pretty much the same as my set up . The only small differences being my foot pedal is wider and I have a cover over the drive belt. With weight of the motor and machine , it ain't goin' nowhere HS
  5. I have tried round knives, but my small hands are just not up to the task of using one. But they do look nice HS
  6. I didn't know that. I have personalised plates on my car . Its quite legal here in Oz, however the licensing depts. are cracking down on plates and/or applications that are deemed inappropriate or offensive . Some plates are just ridiculous or indecipherable , like some sort of code. When I first saw that pic , I actually thought the car had backed into the big 'E' , lol HS
  7. I would love to taste that dark ales have sooooo much flavour . many times over the years I have had some home brews, one in particular , just one glass had the same effect as drinking a whole six pack As for pencils, I just buy a whole pack of 10 or more, and just leave them lying all over my workshop . That way , I'm never without a pencil . Just like glasses, I have the ones on my nose, and a spare pair ...and a spare spare pair , just in case HS
  8. Yeh, I know, the camera angle doesn't do justice. I could have walked further down the line a bit more, then I could see them from a different angle .I'll try to get a bit closer if I can or use the zoom a bit more, but have to be careful, don't wanna get caught trespassing, the line & land is privately owned Its good to see that they're bringing passenger trains back, not often we hear about something returning, wish we had that here, it would benefit so many towns, more jobs and $$$ . Steam trains, now that would be awesome For us, it would be good to have our ' T3' lines' back in service, (branch lines) for grain transporting to and from small regional towns and wheat bins , but our stoopid state gubment in all its "wisdom" decided not to put in any funding for their upkeep, and then a bad accident happened around 10 years ago ( no-one killed thankfully) , but they shut down all the T3 lines as a result to the detriment of smaller towns, ...and local jobs, causing an increase in semi's on the roads risking so many lives, the roads around here are not good. The T3's remain abandoned to this day . But local community ' action groups' are trying to get them funded and opened again. HS
  9. Not sure how to answer that I know nothing about it. Can Kydex be carved or tooled ?
  10. One of those stair lifts perhaps? Look after your back, once its 'gone'...its gone. Thankfully I had my Father help me lift the head on the table at the time. HS
  11. Great job, the new handles may outlast the bag I have done quite a few handle repairs, and theres good sense of satisfaction at the end knowing that you've extended the life of the bag. Well done HS
  12. In the words of Sergeant Schultz, " I see noOthing"
  13. @chuck123wapati Happy Birthday Chuck, , your thread turns 10...pages Here ya go friend, these are the locos I was talking about . About as close as I could get. They're just sitting there, pretty much abandoned . I managed to count 10 loco's . The yellow one in the foreground ' 2301' is a newcomer, it has only been there for a few months. They were in good working condition, almost new some of them , but I did find out that one or two may have been vandalised inside. Now that really p**ses me off !! Theres no need for that. The building in the background is our wheat bin for the local farmers to offload their grain, but even that has now been closed by the grain handling company. So now the farmers have to travel much further to offload their grain at another wheat bin in another town, at extra expense , go figure. So now as a result the roads to and from , are now in constant need of repair . Can't fix stoopid !! HS
  14. You did a great job on the basket weave as well .Basket weave can be quite challenging at times. HS
  15. It was also probed, and it was the only cow with a smile on its face...it also ' jumped over the moon ' . So thats where that came from HS
  16. ' O'h....fffffiddle sticks !!! ' he said . Yep, you're not alone friend If only that bench could speak , the stories it could tell . " ouch ouch ouch f***k it !! ... ouch ouch ....!!" HS
  17. My approach would be to rough up the area to be glued on the metal, you may have already done so, and remove any oil etc. with a solvent . This may also be a time where super glue may work. . Super glue will dry hard and stiff, but contact adhesive will be flexible. Is there such thing as a ' flexible super glue' ? Be good to hear from others on this . I almost forgot to mention, that when I make barrettes , I use around a 5mm -6 mm wood dowel a bit longer than the barrette itself, , slightly pointy at one end, and tapered at the other , and slightly smaller holes in the barrette for the dowel to pass through, not sure if that is of any help . HS
  18. It also would be good to preserve that paper, it would have a nice piece of history in the articles. HS
  19. Try contacting these people: https://campbell-randall.com/product/model-132-1 HS
  20. It looks like theres a screw missing as well on the plate. Just a wild guess, but looks like Pfaff. HS
  21. When I start spending more time looking for my tools than working on leather.... I know its time for a tidy up, o'h wait......wha...?? We've all done it at some point I'm sure . Just when I think I've nailed it, " just a little bit more " .....DOH !!! F***k it !!! lol Might install a basket ball hoop with a rubbish bin under it. HS
  22. We also have the ability to make fire from two pieces of wood, man has enjoyed that luxury for 100's of thousands of years Although I do carry a flame thrower in the boot of my car ....just in case, you never know when you have to make a cup of coffee . HS
  23. So many dying, sewing, molding & assembly techniques in one thread. Love the red on black, really stands out, but I would use a Q tip , ear bud to dye the insides of the holes, but thats just me. HS
  24. @Besthorsegear Yep, thats happened to me a few times on my belts that are on a belt spinner. You're at the mercy of the elements when selling at outdoor venues. And some idiot forgot to turn the sprinklers off at one venue...OOPS!! Anyway, I experimented with a little antique dye , and to try and match the original colour, that seemed to work . That looks like a ' whisky antique' . Hope this helps a bit. HS
  25. Now theres something you won't ever see here in Oz. That was impressive . The wagons over there have the same graffiti as ours , if only the " artists" knew how to spoll....er...spell. HS
