  1. How on earth can anyone criticise that?? It looks great . Beading is an art in itself. HS
  2. I get all the good jobs. A regular client asked about repairing the backrest of a boat, OMG what a mess it was in. My first recommendation, reupholster the whole thing, but he didn't want to pay the full cost, he wanted it done on the cheap, aka ' make a silk purse from a sows ear' . Thankfully I didn't have to buy any materials, someone gave me some....ahem.... vinyl , a long time ago , so thats what I used. I closed up a few gaps, along the way. Theres a few lumps and bumps here and there, but so what, the least amount of time I spent on it the better. Its all glued on using strong contact adhesive with a vinyl retaining strip stapled at the back. I had to heat the vinyl up going around those tight corners. I thought It turned out quite good considering. O'h well, its not leather , but a job is a job HS
  3. What I have is called a (very old) ' blacksmith anvil dolly' that I use for repairs mainly, awkward locations , setting rivets etc. on handbags etc. Its heavy enough for me hit against with a hammer. 'Necessity is the Mother of invention' HS
  4. I have a square rounded ' lump' of metal that was used by a blacksmith, the sqaure post bit that originally goes into the anvil, I use as a handle for setting rivets etc. in odd positions . Perhaps a dolly used by panel beaters/ smash repairers may do the same thing? HS
  5. ...when, the shock absorber/ adjuster thingy on your office chair fails & collapses, and it feels like your a**se is on the ground ? lol I'm sitting on a pillow atm,... don't laugh HS
  6. Try contacting the company/companies that makes the adhesive that you intend using. The stuff I use has all the relevant info on the tin, uses, drying times, safety info etc. as well as company contact details . HS
  7. We have a bucket of hot chips ( fries) for that, or a crumbed sausage . And breakfast is often a hot meat pie from the bakery , an ' Aussie staple' . I had a goat curry meat pie yesterday morning, damn tasty too , a bit more ' madness' for ya . You're right, we are a bit nuts, most "normal" people have a bowl of cereal, lol . " Hey mate, what do yo put on your strawberries?? " " Horse manure" Thats odd, I put fresh cream on mine " HS
  8. Tea here is ' nosh, tucker , grub, dinner, din dins ..... sh*t on a shingle , just kidding, and lunch is just, well, lunch . Its helps Here , they seem to drop the ' e' in scones, and sometimes pronounced ' scons' , weird . The same with the pronunciation of ' Avon '. Some may say Avon as in ' Ayvon' , I say Avon as in have . One is a river, the other is cosmetics company HS
  9. Yep, that has happened to me. HS
  10. While I'm no expert on upholstery leather , all leather come with marks etc. Unless the company that makes lounge suites etc removes or works around the marks, it would be difficult not to notice a few. I know this is a totally different leather, but when I make belts and other items, I keep the branding marks in. As one poster said:" 1. it was unique, and 2. only real leather would have it." I brought up this topic on a thread: The general consensus is, keep them in. HS
  11. Yup . If it doesn't cut, it needs sharpening. Sharpening stone , fine side , and jewelers rouge , and practice cuts. Pretty simple. HS
  12. Is that ' Alice as in Alice Springs ' in Australia? Birdsall Leather in NSW sell whip red hide whip making kits , and also ' Aussie Whipmaker , and a few others. Just Google " Whip making kits for sale. " HS
  13. " I like onions cos they make me fart, smelly out of my ar*se But deep from the heart " That took me at least.um.....20 seconds or less to think of, LOL *I cooked up some onions for our burgers for tea* HS

Just starting to get hot now , high temps, but cool evenings, but soon it will be high temps followed by hot nights too, yuk !! @chuck123wapati & @Sheilajeanne Do you have one of those hand held 12v lithium jump starter thingies that starts cars etc. ?? I have one, but as a back up battery for my EFTPOS , and to start my lil ol' ' bunky' toyota, .....don't laugh I'm actually thinking of getting an extra one but to run a low powered fan for the markets , it does get quite hot at some venues. HS
  16. Its about time someone invented a transporter like on Star Trek, I'd come and join you, I would so love that, and your brandy Hope you have a great time Stay safe HS

  19. On Wednesday when I was in my workshop, I was watching a DVD, when I should have been working...shhh I could hear a lovely bird ( a honey eater I think) in the gum tree right outside my window, chirping its beautiful heart out, I turned the DVD off, then another replied from a distance , and another in a different direction and so on . Eventually there were 4 perhaps 5 birds all chatting to each other. I was more entertained from that than the DVD . Then all of a sudden, it all just stopped, maybe they were spooked . I feel sorry for those living in the city, they wouldn't hear any of that. I also wonder what it was they were talking about , , could have been Mum , Dad and the kids , " dinner time !!!! " lol . HS
  20. Do you know what makes this worse? , I went grocery shopping today in another town, , went to a major hardware.....bought plants etc... and I still forgot the damn masking tape ...arrrgh!!! I'll have to go to our local hardware here tomorrow ..doh !!! HS
  21. When.... you put something down on the bench , you go back to it....and ' poof' , its gone, like my bench suddenly turns into the ' Bermuda Triangle ' . You spent the next 20-30mins looking for it . I had a full roll of masking tape , I only bought it last week . I need it for a job, ..do you think I can find it???........NUP !! Perhaps its in the same place where missing socks go. Certainly not 'where all the calculators go ' I'll have to get another roll , doh!! HS
  22. I like that " I reject reality and substitute it with my own" Mythbusters , I think HS
  23. "The pellet with the poison in the vessel with the pestle" Try saying that as fast as you can , have a glass of wine, and say it again, have a glass of wine ... ..repeat ha!! Or, " the cat crept into the crypt crapped and crept out " . HS
  24. Same here. All the holsters I have made, I have never stamped or carved the back. Tooling & carving is there to be seen, shown off , not hidden . Even Al Stohlmans holsters are only tooled on the front. But I am happy to do it if requested. HS
  25. Looks like the number underneath is: PH8905021 ?? I doubt it would take much to get it up and running . Whatever it is, it will be a good machine. HS
