You should patent that . Might come in handy to repair scratches etc . A bit like body filler on a car, fill scratch , smooth out or sand, dye over the top. HS

Not so much as an oops, but my indecisiveness. Starting a project, " do I make one of these? but I like the other ', but, these are cool" when I do finally choose, which carving pattern? , theres so many. Takes for ever to decide . By the time I've finally decided , its lunch time Yup !! on knife sheaths , or forgetting to sew on belt loops and realising after the case is assembled ...doh !! HS

I think it was mentioned that he had some concussion as a result of falling, that too could be caused by the affects of ' syncope's' . Another beeeeeautiful day again . Its warming up friend, it was like a Summers day yesterday HS -

You really could have some fun with that . Looks like Genghis Khan , true . Geez Frodo, you have our imaginations running wild here . Could always channel some Star Trek ? Klingons perhaps? Make a Klingon character out of it ? In a Darth Vader voice : " I .....am your Ramen " lol HS

@chuck123wapati Hello friend, wasn't sure whether to talk about this, or where to post it, but theres a certain individual that keeps freezing when doing press conferences. I'll keep that ' stuff' starting with ' P'' well out of the conversation . However, I have recognized the condition, similar to what my Dad has experienced in the past. Dad used to just 'freeze' , sometimes mid sentence, doing simple tasks like boiling a kettle, or when mid- stride when he stood up. Its scary sh**t ! They are called ' syncope's ' . Its either dehydration, medication/s, or perhaps a combination of both. But ever since the Dr's stopped the dementia medication, and simplified other meds, he's hardly had an episode since. One Dr even said, "some dementia medications are more trouble than they are worth" . While theres no cure for dementia, he hasn't got any worse after coming off his dementia medication. So just wondering if said 'person that freezes' has dementia ? HS -

A little bit of ' trivia' . Depending on the project, I have another bobbin rewinding while I am sewing . HS -
Welcome to the forum, from ' upside down land', Western Australia Celtic knots are one of my many faves. They can be challenging, but effective . Well done HS

Remember, leather stretches. If possible, moisten it, find a piece of wood around the same size thickness etc. as the notebook and put in in, perhaps with a little force, but not so much to damage the leather, and leave it over night . Thats worked for me in the past if I've made a sizing boo boo. As for craft foam molds, I just use the cardboard from my fave beer carton , its just the right ' stiffness' for patterns , templates HS

Are you refering to the tippman boss machine? If thats the case, imagine doing a few belts, using one of those ? After a while your hand would seize up .Ouch !! Its bad enough cutting out a few hundred holes on a bag using a rotary punch. I'm glad I got my machine when I did, it came from Q Stitch in Capalaba Qld. All my needles, thread etc. also come from SMA Qld. HS

My my my, haven't you done well Love the car push chair ...and your car It feels good to get something for your hard work , its an acknowledgement of your craft, ...and good advertising. Its also great fun !! At one of the shows I Judged at, I did see a beautifully crafted English E-R Red Post box ( pillar box) ,made out of wood, complete with wood letters inside. I didn't put any leather exhibits in our shed this year at our local show, I wasn't happy with way it was run last year, and what they did, I really don't think its permissible . Exhibitors are not allowed into the shed to hand their exhibits to the stewards a few days before the show, WTF ?? thats not on.. Instead, there were 3-4 blokes ( not stewards) out the front with tables , to receive the exhibits and take them into the shed, food, produce, flowers, crafts etc. I am a Show Judge, and the only people that can touch the exhibits are the exhibitors, to hand them over, , the stewards, and the Judges. The less people that touch the exhibits the better , it reduces any perceived bias or interference ...and damage. Needless to say, they have lost my support. My 2 cents worth + tax HS

I knocked a whole 1ltr tin of adhesive over once....and it ran all over my right leg The pair of jeans I was wearing has never been the same since, took me forever to get the adhesive off my leg . Just glad it was just my leg....and nowhere else HS

Firstly, welcome to the addictive world of leather, where there is no cure Theres no such thing as a stupid question, we all had to start somewhere . That ' stupid' question may save you time , money and frustration . While we all use similar or same methods to making projects etc. there are no ' rulz' as such to working with leather , everyone may have their own way of doing things , its the end result that counts . But most importantly>>>>> Have fun HS

@chuck123wapati G'Day Chuck, well, its that time of year...again. Spring has sprung Canola crops are in full bloom in blinding yellow , the blowies (blow flies) have woken up, a time for weed spraying , slashing, and fire breaks . Started early with the fire breaks. Got my ol' Fordson E27N tractor fired up about an hour ago, damn thing started first press of the button...and without any ' Start Ya Bastard' ( ether) , beauty. Early to get them started, early to finish before it gets too hot and while the ground is still a little soft.. Slashing and mowing to do. Weeds are taller this year, extra rain and flooding does that . Apart from annual chores, I so love the changing of the seasons . Its also a time to get in the occasional barby with a few steaks, satay skewers etc. Just had our local agricultural show a few weeks ago, had the best day in a long time. Mother Nature was awesome Wasn't the same without my best friend, Mum. Christmas won't be the same this year. Hope all is well in your part of the universe and you're in good health Be good stay safe HS -
Its not silly at all , its actually quite good , give yourself some credit, well done HS

It does seem the edge isn't straight . When I get my new sides or shoulders etc. I have a long straight piece of 2x1** timber that I use to cut a straight edge with my knife to then start making belts using a strap cutter . The 2 x 1 is clamped down at both ends of the hide and sometimes in the middle. If I don't do that ' wonky' edges. Any off-cuts get used for small items , keepers , book marks etc. **Other people will have different methods to start a straight edge . HS -
yeh man, I think the Italians are a bit fussy about their leather There are suppliers/tanners here in Oz. So, out of curiosity I ordered some leather off ebay au . An Australian supplier.....it was crap . Drank dye like a sponge soaks up water. Never again I'll stick with my regular supplier. HS

I think its important that these little traditions & superstitions are maintained so they don't disappear, and should be passed down. I do have a passing interest in maritime superstitions, but thats too far off topic for here. HS

Something I was going to try, inside some of the cloth bags bought at supermarkets, theres sometimes a piece of thin black plastic at the bottom. It is quite flexible so I thought about using that to stiffen particular leather projects, just a thought . I guess Adelaide Leather is handy for you? HS
-
Yup all of that Fine work . Theres a little superstition , , that if you give a knife for a gift, the receiver gives a coin to the gift giver so as not to ' cut the friendship' . Does that apply over there? HS

So what does a crow tastes like? Chicken ?? Goes well with a bit of garlic and seasoning no doubt I have heard that some of the old timers around here used to eat Cockys ( cockatoos) and Galahs in the very early days . I've had Emu once ( commonly pronounced eemyoo) Tastes very gamey , but nice HS

"Shooting and fishing...is there anything else ??" Yes, an Emu Export or two at the end of a good day fishing They look really good Quite an interesting mallet. HS
