    Bosal progress

Thats a nice little walk through so far, And the braiding looks to be getting better and better as the pictures pile on. I think you might wanna go over the small knots witha different knot though, beside the long knot with smaller strings it looks a little out of place to me. I also have to say I love your antler marlin spike, I just picked up a nice antler myself and was thinking about something similar, Your fid looks good too. Hurry on with the heel knot and show us the finished product.
  2. Another vote for the background. The main pattern I have nothing against, it kinda reminds me of canibal corpse cover art. And it is well done, but too colourful for me personally...lol
  3. I don't really go for dangler sheaths for bush craft myself, I prefer something to sit in exactly the same place each time I go near it. My preferences aside, it's a nice looking sheath. Stitches look solid and finish is great. Nice knife to use too. I have the north star which is very good for bush use.
  4. I like those, all of them are great looking well made sturdy pieces. The croc pouch is very cool, and the edge braiding is excellent. Did you scrimshaw the wolf image yourself or buy that seperately as an insert?
  5. It's not very often I see a bike seat that makes me laugh man. Wicked work Can't wait to see more.
  6. Just checked out the site there, and he does have lots and lots of cool stuff. As you looked at the stuff in person perhaps you can tell us what sort of prices does he ask for generally?
  7. Okay, you obviously have no problems braiding then. so try these variations - Do the same as above but cover in a five length pineapple or gaucho braid two tone to match the finishing knot - Start with a double braid as shown, join into a single for the main bracelet body then split to two again. and cover the joints with gauchos or pineapples or what ever... - Start with double braid loop but immediately join to a single, continue to finisheing knot - Start with a double loop of two 6 strands and split to three four strands, join at finishing knot. cover joints with knots - As above but join to three braids split after an inch join again an inch etc etc cover all joints with knots. - Start with a doubled loop, join to one piece then expand it out to a flat braid join again cover the joints and add finishing knot. - Start with a doubled loop, join to one piece then expand it out to aflat braid, either add a crocodile ridge braid or even edge braid through the braided flatness. How are they suiting you?
  8. You might be able to see how it is done from gary's current pics, of his new bracelets. This one. http://leatherworker.net/forum/index.php?app=core&module=attach&section=attach&attach_rel_module=post&attach_id=33708 I couldn't find any info on google or anything, but if you need to I can scan something from grants book
  9. Sorry to hear you've been in so much pain. But glad you can now look forward to getting on top of leather work again soon. You can spend the next six months planning and drawing up sketches and stuff too. which would be good to see.
  10. Another beautiful piece. I've always wanted one of these, and I've seen several before but none made by one as skilled. I've wanted to use these as herb and tea pouches when camping because of the no seems ideal But i might suggest a lighter edge braid? Perhaps a single spanish edge braid maybe even a double. The mexican just looks a little unflexible to me.
  11. Thats very nice. I've never heard it by that name before. I know it as a carrick knot, which when done in sequence has been called a florentine knot by macrame artists. Anyway, Theres a hundred knots that can be used as part of a centre piece or in sequence making up the whole bracelet. We still need a better idea of what you are after rob.
  12. Well heres a few links to a few stalker images that express it well in my minds eye. http://www.stalker-game.com/img/wallpapers/stalker_wp_01_1024.jpg http://www.wallpaperez.info/wallpaper/games/Stalker-wallpaper-846.jpg http://www.stalker-game.com/img/wallpapers/stalker_wp_02_1280.jpg http://www.teamteabag.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/xr_cop_screen_002.jpg http://img262.imageshack.us/img262/6545/stalker33it9.jpg These are just samples of mainly the characters, but you see some of the graphics and backgrounds too. Which IMO look a lot better than the original film visuals. but anyway.
  13. I think the styling i would go for is kinda inspired by S.T.A.L.K.E.R the game, old looking with patterns half worn down in thick tough leather. But also extremely practical as carrying much or ownership of more than what you would carry is limited by caches. I'd be interested in getting a burned look in leather. Is that dyed badly or finished and burnished over harshly?
  14. After thinking through a few things I have seen on here recently I wanted to gather some ideas and maybe see what people percieve as post apoclyptic style. Personally, A lot of the sutff I do is quite suitable in use and practicality for the genre. But I think I want to work more towards making things look the part also. So jump in share some images and tell me what works for the genre and what you have maybe tried but it might not have quite worked out the way you wanted it to.
  15. I like the subtle variances you have displayed there. And I reckon I would like to see one made with the top red leather, but in the style of the one on the right. keep em coming.
  16. From the album: Some braided work

Designed as a multi-use lanyard. This is my first prototype. One section is worn as a necklace The other as a keyring clip Together they can combine for many uses.

  17. From the album: Some braided work

My first ever watch strap Originally inspired by bruce grants book showing the work of Morgan Whips. I designed the braided keeper because I wanted to keep it all fancy.

  19. Wow. Bet that took a few hours. It looks great.
  20. Is this what you mean? http://www.jacquescrafts.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=1613
  21. Thanks for the compliments Kevin, Much appreciated. I really want to be able to do all the georgous carvings I see on here, or even be able to attempt some. I tried a flower notebook as a gift as by recommendations on here, but my knife work was appalling. Guess I will work on my awl work for a while until a get a good tool worked out...Broken screwdriver sounds findable though.
  22. My partner and I both love those new boots. But I curse you for giving her more footwear ideas....Thanks a bunch
  23. I like what you have done. But taking a page from lotr, you should do something to the inside also. Even just dye and polish it. Would look much better.
  24. Well I figured people have used alternatives before, But I was thinking proper tools more widely accepted, like a skiver vs french skiver. Subtle differences but commonly used. I have thought of trying a screwdriver sharpened up, might try it then. Thanks for the cool history lesson.
