  1. A crate is a box with a door to keep you dog in. When my dog was a pup I would let her stay inside with the door open, then shut the door. She got to the point where she felt safe inside. Now she can travel in the crate and she can't jump around, and cause me pains.
  2. I use Barbour's pure flax unwaxed thread, and wax it myself. Al Stohlman's book "The art of hand sewing leather" help my stitching.

  5. I think the saddle is more like 35-40 years old. Chattanooga saddlery company inc. was the company that made it. I have a 1959 catalog and the saddle is not in it, so it must be newer than 1959.

  11. I'm making the Stohlman draw down stand and have all the wood parts, but need a draw down strap 12/14 oz. 9 1/2" x 44". The problem is I don't have 12/14 oz. skirting leather. Is there anyone out there that could cut me a blank, I only do repair work now and may never need a back or side of 12/14 oz. Also I want to make a finessing tool and need a small scrap of 16 oz. this is on page 83 vol. 1 of the stohlman encyclopedia. the scrap needs to be hand size. This tool finishes saddle strings. Not asking for a hand out, just a going price plus shipping. Thanks, Tim

  13. I had a lady that called who also needed her billets replaced on a Orthoflex. Did you use the rawhide centered billets, if so did you punch or or use an awl for the stitching. How hard was the job?
  14. Anyone know where to get sheep skin 1/4" thick or fleece. Building a 7" saddle.
