  1. you might try just taking three wraps and then tucking the extra under the three wraps alternating it over and under
  2. i use the type s lime and that stuff works pretty well, i have seen some guys first clip off the hair and then scrape the hide with pocket knife, hope this helps
  3. The only thing i see is the skirts are kind of cock eyed to the frog but otherwise it looks amazing, but being as i have only made one myself you might want to take this one with a grain of salt

Thanks Butch, i should probably refrase this, i had a lot of help, the reason i did an 8 button seat is because me and the guy helping me finished fitting the seat and i had an oh sh#t moment, there was a small hole in the very front of the seat, otherwise it wouldnt have been an 8 button seat, if you look closely at the "loop seat" you will see that it is just a sewed in insert, i accidentaly cut out the whole plug instead of just the top and bottom, woops!!! but i was fairly pleased with the rest of it, thank you so much for the tips, brainless beginners like myself could use a lot more.

  9. I have used a breast collar in the past. the other day i did not have my breast collar on and i roped a down tree must have weighed 200lbs i had little to no slippage on my saddle. but for safety i think they are still neccesary
  10. how do you make the felt pads. What do you call the felt you use. Sorry for the stupid question but i like to make everything i own myself.

  18. Hey I am new to this place i am 16 years old. I have done a bunch of tooling (not very good yet)but i would like to learn how to make stirrups. Ive studied them and the only thing i cannot figure out is how to bend the wood. If any of you know how to do this please say so
  19. Hey that is some pretty good work. If you want a good lace cutter get Bruce grants book how to make cowboy and horse gear it tells you how to make a couple neat cutters and things
  20. I made a head Knife out of an old cross cut saw blade it seems to hold and edge very good. IT was extremely hard to drill the holes in the handle though.
