  1. I would think you should be very careful using a 12 ton press to emboss leather. Instead of embossing it could act like a clicker press and cut right through.
  2. Just think what a nice bag you could make out of a pair of discarded " Lederhosen">
  3. I find the (Tandy) double-backed tape excellent to use for mounting zippers prior to stitching, I have tried various adhesives but found they tend to be messy ( for zippers anyways).
  4. Very unique idea and excellent craftsmanship. Your reel to reel bag is a big step up from wallets..I especially like the contrasting leather colors.
  5. That's a good question Hardrada, I asked myself that, because on other pouches I have made I used more of a quadrilateral pattern with a few stitches along the bottom for the belt loop stitches. I will not be carrying much weight in it so I am hoping it will suffice as is. As far as your mismatched stitch hole question goes it depends how out of line it is. If just a slight mismatch I would use an awl to force a match and hope is is not too noticeable. I am learning that that no one is perfect and part of the process is being able to recover from glitches and oversights without having to sacrifice the entire project. Maybe some of the experts on here will chime in provide a better answer.
  6. Thank you for the kind words Nigel, coming from a master like yourself they mean a lot to a struggling, eager to learn amateur. Daryle
  7. I made this vertical snap wallet for a Granddaughter that loves frogs. Leather is 3-4 oz veg-tan, colored with Tandy Eco-Flo Dye in Forest Green and applied with an air brush. The thread is Tandy Carriage (hemp) .6mm.
  8. Mainly small first aid kit and survival necessities for when I am hunting.
  9. Here is a belt pouch I made after being inspired by the full gusset model in the Nigel Armitage pouch pack that I recently purchased. Leather for main body is 4-5oz veg-tan, the gussets are 3oz. The dye is Tandy Eco-flo in medium brown.
  10. I think it is perfect!! I can't SEE a single flaw in the craftsmanship.
  11. Another puzzling question is which hand would a right handed person be most likely to be holding the wallet in whist pulling the zipper open or closed. If holding the item in your left hand it would seem more natural to use your right hand to open zipper from right to left. The way I see it, it doesn't matter which way the zipper is orientated because during the open-close cycle you will be going in both directions anyway, that is unless the wallet is held in the opposite hand for closing.
  12. Is there an accepted standard direction for a horizontal zipper to open when installed in a wallet or purse, right to left or left to right, or does not matter. What is considered the norm?, assuming the front of the item is facing you.

Set of radio holders I just finished. 4-5 oz veg-tan dyed with Tandy Eco-Flo stain in Med Brown.
  14. Guitar theme wallet made for a friend. 4-5 oz veg tan outer shell, 3-4 oz veg tan inner shell, dyed with Tandy medium brown Eco-Flo Stain and applied with an air brush.
  15. Go to your local quilting supply shop and get a pair of cotton quilters gloves. The ones I have came with non-slip finger tips and are perfect for holding tools and stitching.
  16. Thanks, The template is excellent. There are no follow along video instructions for the template but there are a set of basic instructions for the tricky parts. No problem for anyone with basic wallet making skills.
  17. A vertical snap wallet for my Grand daughter. Leather is 3-4 oz veg-tan, dyed with Tandy Eco-Flo dye in medium brown. Dye was applied with an air brush. Wallet was made using template from Make-Supply.

  19. I just completed this purse for my Daughter. She loves the color green and dragonflies. The leather is 3-4oz veg-tan dyed with Tandy Eco-flo dye in forest green. In side has 8 card slots and a zippered compartment. I made drawings and templates using Inkscape.
  20. Looks good for your first attempt. Is it of your own design?
  21. That is one nice looking key fob. I like how the thread color compliments the red and black.
