  1. Thanks a million for all the suggestions. It seems I have a lot of work to do in the dye dept.
  2. Looks good - congrats
  3. Thanks for your reply. I do not thin the dye. It's 100% out of the gal jug. All the other colors do fine hanging - just the lighter browns are having problems. And we let everything hang over night. Light Brown and Sad Tan we spray and then come out fine. Just a pain.
  4. When we dip leather into a pot of Fiebings dye (light Brown or Saddle Tan ) for 3 to 4 seconds and hang to dry it comes out very dark brown or almost black. Does anyone have an idea of the problem?
  5. Weaver Leather has Barge. I have been using Barge Cement for the past 16 years but now having problem with it sticking to leather. I've got some from Springfield leather and it seems to be doing the job. The have contracted an outfit to make it for them. You might want to try it.

  8. That flat piece that is holding down the tip is called a "keeper". As far as hardwear there are several places: Zack White, Weabers, Springfield, The buckle guy and many more. just google. Hope this helps. Good looking work, by the way.

    Barge cement

What is a good alternative to Barge cement. I've used Barge for the past 13-14 years with good results. In the past 5-6 months i've had to reglue, something like 60% of our leather straps. I think the texture (thickness) is fine. And it's mixed well. It's just not setting up as I think it should. What's a good alternative ?
  10. I have a total of 256 Chrome plated Craftool USA - new There is a wide range of designs & sizes. Perfect for a wide range of projects. All are new but have been setting in the shop for a couple of years. Also 3 tool caddies for the punches. $200 for the set. Also. I have 23 "stamping sets" including: alphabet, numbers and pictorial sets (If interested in any of the sets, give me a call and we can discuss). 678/520-2695 Pic's and model numbers on request. I tried to download these but the file is too large. I'm afraid technology has passed me by. (No Subject).eml

    V gouge tool

DaveP, did you ever fine a V gouge tool ? I've got a couple in the shop. I'll send you one, if you still need it.
  12. Mark842: @Mark842 If you see this post , could you give me a call (678/520-2695). JIm Weaver gave me 3 contacts to day to call to verify the reliability of the punch. I got 2 out of the 3 and both said they have had problems with the machine. I don't want to send it back but since you have not had any problems with the reliability of the machine I thought you might give me some pointers, adjustments, ect. Jim was totally surprised at the report I gave him . And we are both working together to fix the problems. Any help you could give us would be appreciated.l Thanks so much. Al
  13. No it's not doing what it's advertised to do. Jim Weaver made a couple of suggestions but everything seems to be tight. It will perform great and all of a sudden it will punch the first hole (of seven in a belt strap) at 1" and then punch a couple of holes at 7/8": while the setting is 3/4. It's not off by much but just enough to screw up the project. I'm going to give it another week and if we cannot find a fix - I'll just return it. I hate to do that , I like the machine and we really can use it but it has to be reliable. I would like to talk to someone who has the machine to make certain I'm not doing something wrong. Maybe, Jim can turn me on to someone. Anyway guys thanks for all the help.
  14. I'll call Jim Weaver again and see if there is a locking screw. Thanks all for your help.
  15. Mark842: Could I be doing something wrong. I like the punch but I do need reliability.
