We don't use the post because it adds too much tension to the top thread. We haven't used it in 8 years. It works fine without it. We make sure that when we thread the machine, we go through the first thread guide then through the tension discs and back to the thread guide, this will insure that the thread will not jump out of the tension. This is how we do it but other methods would be fine also.

You can get all of the major parts for the Juki 563. The 145, 211, and the 67GK are great machines though.

We use a ball bearing driven speed reducer on all of our equipment along with a full brushless digital servo motor, meaning that there is NO mechanical brake that will wear out and need to replace. With our system, when you take your foot off of the pedal the current stops and so does the motor. I have never liked servo motors with the mechanical brake because it costs extra money to replace and repair. We try to keep it as simple as possible for the customer.

Alex, I agree with Glenn. It seems that the top tension is the problem. Try tightening the top tension a half turn at a time and test.

Gregg, but the 400W was one of the smoothest running machines around, at the time because of the rotary take up and the ball bearing hand wheel.
