The first thing I would start with is shortening the stitch length. That long of a stitch isn't helping out the cause of the tensions.
-
To me the top one's darker thinking it changed the surface. If you ever have the grain side on a surface not completely smooth and stain or antique after it will show every little scratch. Best way to find out is stain each one of them.

You definitely got figure drawing worked out.

Practice and plan on screwing up a lot because you can go brain dead flipping it back in fourth till that one time and then sob, you forgot to turn it..

If you had your location it would help for others in the same area to give reference to their experience. I get my stuff from SLC and just got a order last week but the deep freeze is just starting now. They usually as temps dip put in heat packs and so far I haven't in years past gotten a frozen anything but I'm close to all the interstates and they don't get much sitting in transit time. -
I meant it as @Wepster explained, but how you said that would work ok. Either way when you do one you have to start in one direction and finish in the other for a whole belt so would just not do the opposite way and only thin through and past the buckle.
-
Yes, that's what I thought he meant.
-
IMO, if you're just talking about thinning just where the bend is for the buckle to get it to do evenly would be about impossible. I got one from Weaver and if you were to thin the end/edge of something ok. But in the middle, I couldn't unless someone has I would love to hear how.

That wasn't intended for you. As for sealer I use tan-kot and believe bag-kot has less sheen. Or the other way I don't remember.

Since you have been and go to SLC, have you tried or have any experience with the Renia black dye yet? -
As I said I got no dog in this fight or with you, I'm simply say that when it's said if you have no personal experience with it on leather to be a little more open minded as you suggested others do.
-
I've never heard about breaking off feet either as @bladegrinder said. Keep a bunch of scrap by the machine because the thicker or thinner material will change the stitch length. This is the site. https://heprecision.com/shop/ols/products

I got no dog in this fight either way, but back when I brought up using Veg oil on leather people in this very thread had plenty to say to me. Now other people also in this thread are testing it on working or not and so far have had no issues that have been told. And as I believe you might be also. Just saying so it's implied for everyone on here.

Help out the simpleton in me, why do they cover/enclose the bridges? Is it mainly for wood bridges to keep the weather off?

Help on Rex 345-3L Industrial Sewing machine

Not sure if you put the wrong numbers in the first size, but the 135x17 is a cloth/fabric material needle. A 135x16 is a leather needle, same sized needles just the 135x16's are for leather. In most cases the flat shank needle are for home/domestic sewing machines.https://www.bantamsaddletack.com/HAx1-15x1-Needles-for-Chinese-Patcher-Sewing-Machines--10-pack_p_49.html Bantam carries some bigger sizes with flat shanks for people with the Chinese shoe patcher sewing machines or can find some on Ebay but none of them are leather needles. -

Get a cylinder arm and put a flat top on it. You'll never regret the decision and be surprised how many things you can use one for. -

What is Mycelium Leather? Does it exist?

Well, there is one guy, a really famous guy that for years pushed climate change as a existential threat to humanity. But then oddly enough that very famous guy spent 8 mil. on a house on a island not to high above sea level. Doesn't seem like a very wise purchase if the place is going to be underwater soon. Or in fact, maybe he didn't really believe what he was saying.
