  1. I don't know how it could be the dye when you're dip dyeing it, the dye would have to separate and become separated in the pan. Do you dilute the dye and is it all pro dye? Does stirring it before dipping make a difference?
  2. I would never pay that much for a side cause I'm cheap. 150.00 a side HO economy and I work around any issues but I either tool or stamp so no worries about most of it. I literally got a hide that you could see daylight like it was shot with a shotgun. But the overall don't look like yours. I know the exchange rate from the states suck but I'd go the quantity to get the quality and if there's a bad spot cut from the other. If you could get 2 hides for 300.00 U.S. would the exchange rate be over the 200.00 difference
  3. If it's not insisting to be a alternative to leather then why is be associated to vegans? Why isn't it just a alternative product without the association to vegans.
  4. The vegans against using leather will then be associated with someone filing a 15,000 page lawsuit to save the trees.
  5. Kind of yes, the easiest would be to take the lining and bend it over something and then glue the outer to it and cut the access off instead of starting with the lining shorter. You'll probably take out a half inch from lining after you cut it off but the flap will lay much flatter all the way across.
  6. . https://www.tolindsewmach.com/cb-acc-pack.html @CowboyBob sells them that you should get to work on your machine. Congrats on getting a machine.
  7. When you line the interior piece, do it with the curve in the outer piece/ the flap. You can see how wrinkled the inside piece is on the curve so you have both pieces working against each other. Ones trying to bend in and the others trying to bend out and be flat.
  8. Try putting it back to where it was when you got it and see if the issue is still there.
  9. Would a sewing machine needle be as big as that in any size? I got a 441 and that looks huge.
  10. And here I'm looking for capitalized typing on both comments, then the web-site, nothing. Now I see it.
  11. You'll be happy you ordered now instead of the insanity shipping coming with black Friday sales. Brings you back to waiting for X=mas morning, now it's for a tracking number.
  12. Do the online stores you're going through have different grades to choose from, like A, A/B, branded, craftsman or economy for H.O.?
  13. The rawhide still looks pretty good. I would do the way you explained to the end.
  14. Not knowing your need time wise for getting or finances but there are times that 441 class machines come up in the 1500.00 to 2000.00 and in the long run money well spent. Buying a used machine someone else paid the shiny new price and after that the used prices hold up really well on resale.
  15. Not trying to be one of those guys but I think you know that Texas isn't a great description of where you are located.
  16. And how should anyone know where someones from if they don't have a location, guess?
  17. They're in a way all the same being finish's, but some are shinier than others. Some you will have to dilute. Most people depending also use as a resist before antiqueing and after. Same as Tankote and Bagkote, ones shinier than the other. I use Tankote and another I can't remember the name right now, and they're both about the same in the end.
  18. If having a choice fits, I'd take the heads off and carry them in the vehicle. Trailers aren't very forgiving in ride comfort.
  19. I can do ok with Sheridan carving, but I can't imagine how bad I would do something like that. Don't know what skill it is to do figure carving but you got it. Nice looking stuff.
  20. For future reference when talking to or about someone use the @ then type their name and pick out from the pop-up or they'll never know you responded to them like this@stitchgearhead
  21. Wouldn't taping the sheet first take away any issues of transfer to the leather?
  22. If you can for your own safety have a mod take your phone number off and private message it for people. Who knows who are seeing it and what they will do with it.
  23. It would be cool if there was enough rawhide left if you get it compressed and sand it a little. I'd bet the years of hide patina would look great sanded and resealed.
