  1. Well, those are cool looking. I can see why you wouldn't be thrilled stitching those. You got it done nicely, though. Good work. Did you do both sides or just one side on each shoe?
  2. Looks great! I like it. Clean, as Ddat said. Very fine work.
  3. Outstanding! Beautiful work.
  4. Have you tried bees wax to stick the point in every few stitches so it comes out of the leather better?
  5. Interesting that they don't work well with a diamond awl but do with punches. Thanks for that bit of information.
  6. I talked to one guy who put his diamond awl tip in his drill press. He didn't turn it on, but he set the angle and was able to get all the holes cut straight through the piece he was working on. I've never tried it but it may be something you might think about. There is an arbor press type tool with a chuck for just that purpose. Here's one listing but they are priced all over the board from $60 to $150.
  7. Very good looking in its simplicity. There's a General who's going to be quite pleased. Nice work.
  8. Very tastefully done with the simple maple leaf on it. Good work.
  9. Those look good. I like the makers stamp inside them.
  10. Those are a good design, Frodo. Nice work!
  11. Nothing seems to be any different but at least I do get notifications via that stream I made so at least there's that. Thanks for the suggestions and direction. Robert
  12. Another nice one. Looks good with the lacing.
  13. That's pretty darn cool. What a compliment!
  14. Those are really fine work. The BW is very good and the flat rope border goes nicely with it. The pen holder is a cool design, too. All around a nice set. Very good work.
  15. They look great! That's some beautiful work.
  16. The stream seems to be doing what it should. A quick check to that generally doesn't net any replies to threads I've participated in. I assume that any and all new replies will get found that way. I'll start posting more and see what comes back. It seems like a lot of unnecessary strokes but hopefully the stream is one way to know of any replies. I would feel better if I got emails, though.
  17. That's really good work. You were most successful with this "can I make one of those?" project.
  18. Antiquing sure gives it some definition and depth. Looking really good.
  19. That looks great. Just enough basket weave, just enough molded leather, just the right color. Well done.
  20. That didn't work. All I got was a list of threads I never even visited. I deleted it and made another one slightly different. Under 'Following' I chose only content I follow instead of everything. Hopefully that will net the right results.
  21. Thanks for the reply, Northmount. I set up a stream as you suggested. I don't understand what it means, but it's there. I attached the page for it. If that doesn't do what I need, I'll contact @Johanna. I may do that anyway.
  22. If notifications are not possible, if I could search by new content to threads I'm following that would help. Right now, I'm still bungling around trying to figure out how the software for this forum works. I'm a moderator on two other forums but this one doesn't work the same. I have tried following the links at the top of the page under 'Activity' > 'My Activity Streams' > 'Unread Content', 'Content I Follow', 'Content I've Started', and 'Content I've Posted In'. but there seem to be a lot of other threads included in those searches. Is there one link that will just list new content to threads I follow?
  23. That story would be one to hear. I would also keep the badges in the belt. One's imagination can fill in nicely where facts are absent.
  24. Those are some very nice handles. That really looks great. In applications where that type of handle can be rigid, I like to bury the stitching completely. It makes for a more comfortable handle. I wet the seam then mold the leather both ways over the stitch line with a hammer. The photos were taken after that tote had been used for over 10 years.
  25. I looked those up. They're very nicely bound notebooks. That should be quite enjoyable to use.
