Hello all, Not sure if this is the right section to be posting in, but it seemed the most logical. I have a large brass stamp, 10cm x 10cm. It came with an electric branding iron advertised to handle that size of brass stamp, but it does not get hot enough to properly brand the leather. It will smoke the leather, but it wont singe it like with the smaller brands. I am planning on using it on both wood and leather, but the heater I have simply wont work, by the time it gets to its maximum temperature, it starts to melt the black handle. So, either I need a cheap recommendation (under $200) for a better electric iron, or I need some advice on how to heat it up alternatively. I have heard that you can heat it up over an open flame, so I was planning on getting a butane torch from walmart and trying that out, but I am worried that I will get the brand too hot and it will burn the wood/leather too much as I have experienced in the past branding when an iron gets too hot. Is there a good method for doing this? How long to hold the flame over the brand? If the brand gets red hot, is that TOO hot? Thanks! Zayne

Howdy, I'd like to stamp leather goods I make with a personal stamp. I'm looking for supplier recommendations that can meet the following criteria: 1) Arbor press stamp - Stamp should accommodate use on an arbor press machine (ie, preferably stamp should have a flat back) 2) Manual hand stamp - Stamp should come with attachable handle for manual hammer stamping 3) Hot stamp - Would like option to buy stamp heater for "branding" with the stamp 4) Rust proof - stamp needs to resist rust (eg, brass, stainless steal, etc) 5) Quality/longevity - high quality craftsmanship that should last a lifetime of use. 6) Ownership - I need to retain design ownership 7) Quick turnaround - given an existing image design (e.g., in jpg format), would like to receive delivery to Texas within 1-2 weeks. 8) Two simple design versions - (1) 1"x0.5" containing two words of three and seven alphanumeric characters, respectively, plus a small 3-line logo. (2) 0.5"x0.25" 3-line logo by itself. 8) Budget - $50 or less including shipping. I look forward to your inputs! Thanks, Tom

I am looking to get a book cover made. It should be fairly simple. All I need is a logo in the middle and 2 holes punched on the left side. I will attach an image to make it more clear. Im no picky about where the holes are as long as they are in the first 1/2 in of the left side. I figure you will know where the safest point to make them. I also need a back cover of the same size, but only with the holes. You can email me at greenleaf31013 at gmail dot com. You will have to fix the at and the dot. I apparently cant attach pictures... It is a simple logo. it is a circle with a P in the middle with a few extra lines. I will email you the mock up. Thank you for your time!

For a new line of bracelets I'm looking for magnetic bracelet clasps with our logo. I spend a lot of time finding a supplier in China, but unfortunately this seems like a never ending road leading nowhere... Anyone knows a supplier who can make this kind of hardware? Doesn't necessarily have to be our own design, some kind of standard clasp than can be customised might be just as interesting :-) All help we be very much appreciated! Have a great day! Im the process of creating logo bracelets but I'm having such a hard time finding the right hardware. I've tried a list of suppliers in China, but this takes so much time, and is leading nowhere :-( Anyone got suggestions where I can find a maker of custom pins like the pin in the photo? (Since I'm Dutch I'm not really sure if "pin" is the right name, but it took me a day to figure this out :-) I'm also looking for logo (magnetic) bracelet clasps, guess I have to post that in an other topic, but any tips will be more than welcome as well :-) All help we be very much appreciated! Hi gang, I'm wanting to create a fairly basic 2D logo. I'm looking for tips on ways that are the most cost effective but will still mark the leather permanently. Stamping? Cutting? Burning? I have been looking into customized 2D stamps, but they are quite pricey. Though I'm sure they are a good future investment, I'm wondering if there is an alternative. This stock photo is similar to the design I will be making, with a small crescent moon. Thanks!

Hello All, I decided to join based on great tips i've been getting from this site but i've coming across a re- accuring problem as a Leatherworker specific on Leather bags and i use Chrome Tan Leather. Since it is very difficult to stamp on these types of leathers what will work best when it comes to imprinting my logo onto the leather? Will Hot Foil Stamp work on Chrome Leather? Arbor Press? Or Should i simply find another way to attach my logo onto the bag(s). Please Help!

Hello all, I'm about to finalize my logo and will be purchasing a stamp or brand. I've been doing some research on my own, but thought it would be a good idea to ask for some recommendations from you fine folks. Still trying to decide between a stamp or brand. The logo will have some fine detail found in small embellishments that I want to make sure will be evident in the final stamp. I will be stamping or branding on both veg tanned and chrome tanned leathers. Just looking to collect any information you'd be willing to lend and recommendations and experiences with stamp/brand suppliers. Thanks a lot! Look forward to hearing what you guys have to say.

Hi everyone! I'm hoping someone can help me with my dilemma. I have a logo that I want to emboss on my leather bags. I've done a bunch of research and it seems like an arbor press and brass plate are the way to go in veg tanned leather, BUT i use chromium dyed leather! I'm wondering if someone can give me advice here. Will an arbor press work on this soft leather? If so, do I need a 1 ton or 2 ton? And any recommendations on what type of stamp to get- do i need a brass one? or I've seen some people who are making them out of a durable plastic now for cheap... See the attached picture for an example of what I'm looking for! Thanks a bunch everyone! I'm so glad this website exsits, I can't tell ya'll how often I come here for guidance! Erin

Hi Everyone, I've seen a lot of small scale leather workers with their own custom hardware - that is, belt buckles with their logo cast on the buckle. I'm wondering where to get this done? I think it looks awesome but everyone I've asked won't tell me! I'm not sure why, but anyway - if anyone knows who to go to for this, please let me know. Ideally I'd go for solid brass or stainless steel, and preferably north american as I'm not sure how to handle quality control on Alibabba. Thanks!

I have an idea of what I want, but I don't know if I should try and come up with a logo first or if i should send the idea to someone to have them make one for me. What did you fellas do to get your logos made? Riemer

I recently got my new "Hellcat" tattoo and I'm thinking about turning it into my "Hellcat Leathers" logo. What do ya'll think compared to the current one? I would appreciate any advice. All color or just black? Thanks.
