hickok55 Report post Posted September 4, 2022 I made my first leather belt. It was made out of Italian veg tanned 3.6-3.8mm leather, a brass buckle and keeper. I think it turned out pretty good.

Hags Report post Posted September 6, 2022 I like it, and yes a bit long. I leave mine at 4" past the first hole. Better than being short like my first one was!
PastorBob Report post Posted September 6, 2022 That is beautiful. As far as amount of leather in front of the first hole, Chuck at Weaver leather has some really good tutorials on belts to help guide you to the proper length. Nicely done. Love the color. Jaxx1024 Report post Posted September 7, 2022 That’s very nice and clean and simple. I’m trying my first belt now and I don’t have anywhere near as clean of a finish.
Samalan Report post Posted September 7, 2022 Looks very nice could you tell us about the finishes you used on the inside and out what dye it's always good to hear that information thanks for showing.

It's pre-dyed Italian full grain and the only kind of finish I have applied would be burnishing the edges which I just used bees wax for.

JazzBass Report post Posted September 8, 2022 That’s quite good for your first belt! Belts are great, because there are SO many choices in making. The only problem is that you’ll want to try them all! LOL. Congratulations on #1. Face it- you’re hooked now. (Haha,)
