Don't forget to look at whatever else is on the circuit. A 20 amp, 120 volt circuit handles 2400 watts MAX, but you also allow 20% for overhead so your continuous MAX would be 1920 watts. National Electric Code defines "Continuous" as 3 hours, I think. Double check me if you get close.

Not to insult your intelligence, but in case you or someone else don't know, here are the formulas:

Watts = Amps * Volts
Amps  = Watts / Volts
Volts = Watts / Amps

2400 watts = 20 amps * 120 volts
20 amps = 2400 watts / 120 volts
120 volts = 2400 watts / 20 amps

Nope no insult here. I knew the formula's being a diesel technician. I think I will just run a dedicated 20amp circuit to the sewing machine.

Thanks.

I have a class 3, wish I'd bought a 4, but happy none the less. The motor died a few months in, new one free of charge in a few days, running fine for approx 4 years now.

Not so retired RN. Living on the Washington Peninsula.

I did wonder ...

Maybe it'll help someone else one day.

I wouldn't spend money to run a dedicated circuit. I run mine on the same circuit as a deep freezer, a mini fridge, a couple of led shop lights and also a Portable air conditioner running sometimes.

I haven't had any problems. your machine isn't going to pull that much.

Ok thanks. Did you mention that earlier in this thread. Or I might have read it in another thread.

Also I just recently got a ebike & been playing around with the formulas a bit more than usual.

Thanks. I did not know if I should buy some high tech sewing oil or just use what comes with the machine.

All you guys with Cobra class 4 machines, How many bobbins do you all keep with your machine?

Thanks.

I am just a hobbyist and found a 10 pack of extra bobbins was nice to have . I keep 2 each of my popular colors or thread size available , so if you run out or coming close you don't have to stop and go through the winding process. You will need to do some searching to find a reasonable price but I found it was worth a extra dollars. I always have a few if not more empty and  ready to go , so I can do a one off without wasting thread.
