Members horselady21 Posted March 23, 2016 Members Report Posted March 23, 2016 I love yyour bag and the fact that you hand stitched it! I don't have a machine to sew even garment weight leather yet, and wanted to make a purse in the worst way, so just found a pattern, cut it out, and am currently hand stitching it! I am also using a hand stitching chisel, but using the same shade thread so it won't be as noticeable if stitches go awry! Thank you for posting and I would love to see more of your work! Quote
Members Dominicff Posted October 18, 2016 Members Report Posted October 18, 2016 Where can i get the pattern for this bag ? Quote
bikermutt07 Posted October 18, 2016 Report Posted October 18, 2016 (edited) That is one of the best projects I have seen here. Beautiful design and execution. You really have something to be proud of. Edited October 18, 2016 by bikermutt07 Quote I'm not paying 80 bucks for a belt!!! It's a strip of leather. How hard could it be? 4 years and 3 grand later.... I have a belt I can finally live with. Stitching is like gravy, it's only great if you make it every day. From Texas but in Bossier City, Louisiana.

Internal seams like sides and bottom are pre-punched with the unloaded sewing machine in order to keep even distance. My edges are far from perfect. I use paint, heat treatment, sandpaper, but I am not a big fan of this paint. Bought Vernice 600, looks much better compared to Fenice. I know, that I need more practice and more coats of paint/sanding. From someone that uses these edgings every day I can only commend your bravery using red (the worst colour for getting off excess) in the way that you have. May I ask what application technique you decided to use in this case? Regards Brian Quote Wild Harry - Australian made leather goodsYouTube Channel Instagram

Members Dunluce Posted November 14, 2016 Members Report Posted November 14, 2016 Olena, I am planning to make my first bag for my wife and I would like it to be something along these lines (if it is half as good as yours I will be pleased). I am working out my own pattern at the minute, but could I just ask you what type and weight of leather did you use? Quote

It was a cow skin, I am buying some offcuts from local shop, they sell leather for apparel and furniture, not sure what weight, I think it good enough to be a chair or sofa as well Quote
