Yes i guess you could say its a dropped in lining. I personally, don't know the terms, just how i do them. 4 hours ago, nstarleather said: Beautiful, I love that leather! I could not agree more. Its the main reason why this bag was a success. 31 minutes ago, motocouture said: Amazing work! Thanks! Quote
Members venator Posted March 20, 2017 Members Report Posted March 20, 2017 What did you use to finish the edges on it? Quote
Members Stetson912 Posted March 20, 2017 Members Report Posted March 20, 2017 Whoa, that's awesome. May I ask how you did the lining? I haven't made a bag before but I'm going to soon and that is the thing holding me up. You did a fantastic job on this bag. Quote

I do my best to line everything up as square as possible. Then I use edge paint; sanding between each coat. A little assistance from my hot iron as well. Quote

Nothing too complex. Its just a matter of clean execution. lots of checking and re-checking my measurements. Quote
Members Stetson912 Posted March 20, 2017 Members Report Posted March 20, 2017 Ah ok, so make a bag the same dimensions as the main bag? Then drop it in and stitch around the top? Yu our have trim pieces around the top of the liner which is a good idea I think. But that's the basic principles right? Quote

The other is a turned lining. This video gives a great explanation how to do both. Because she's using fabric she turns the top edges of both bag and lining to ensure no raw edges are visible, with leather you don't have to do that (as seen in this gorgeous bag we're all so taken with). If you do turn them a turned lining is a lot easier as it's less thickness to sew through, a drop in requires a heavier machine. I did my tote (look at my thread here in show off) with a turned lining. Quote
