alpha2 Posted December 29, 2018 Report Posted December 29, 2018 I finally tried my hand at something other than straight-line stitching. Had to make a template, adjusted for size, and practiced on a scrap piece first. The dog won't know the difference. Lucky dog! Jeff Quote So much leather...so little time.
Members Rolandranch Posted December 30, 2018 Members Report Posted December 30, 2018 Well done! That's one special dog for sure. Is it lined? Quote
Rockoboy Posted December 30, 2018 Report Posted December 30, 2018 The 1st thing today that made me say "WOW! That is Excellent!" out loud. I am thinking I might aim for my next belt to have something similar. alpha2 Posted December 30, 2018 Author Report Posted December 30, 2018 Thanks for the kind words, y'all! No, it's not lined. I haven't made a lined collar yet. Coming up soon. It doesn't show up well in the pic, but the stitching is yellow. Pretty dramatic against the black bridle leather. Edges are burnished with beeswax from my brother-in-law's hives. Contributing Member JLSleather Posted December 30, 2018 Contributing Member Report Posted December 30, 2018 Well, tell us you at least let her pick the THREAD COLOR! Oh, and can I recommend conway buckles for dog collars? I don't do too many collars these days, but I like the little clip (button) buckles for smaller dogs and conway buckles for larger dogs -- both allow you to buckle the collar on and off without pulling the strap PAST where it fits. alpha2 Posted December 30, 2018 Author Report Posted December 30, 2018 Well, she sort of picked the color. I found her a couple of days ago with an inch of yellow thread hanging out of her mouth. I pulled it out, and it was 8" long. I took as a sign. Conway buckles are on the next hardware order. Jeff Quote So much leather...so little time.
