  2. I agree with the others. To add, pics will help a lot too
  3. I know this conversation was a year ago but i need dome help. How much are original ruby blades worth? I have three i am wanting to sell and I have seen them on ebay going for 150-200 and up for one or two blades etc. Id like to think they are vintage, and a great high end swivel knife blade is $35 a piece and Tandy sales a synthetic ruby for $100 each. I have two original regular sized and one narrow angled blade with an original swivel knife that is very smooth! 20250928_124726.mp4
  4. Today
  5. And there is the answer to my question! Thank you KGG, I doubt I would have found the answer on my own. — AZR
  6. There shouldn't be any lateral adjustment on the feed dog because it would then rub/hit the needle plate. The needle should be centered in the foot and needle plate.
  7. Here a link to a manual for a Juki 243: https://www.manualslib.com/manual/1638502/Juki-Tnu-243.html Section 21 (pages 10 and 11) discusses adjusting the feed dog to needle relationship.
  8. On my machine (Pfaff) you set the needle into the centre of needle hole in the feed dog by moving the needle bar frame. This is the upper assembly that includes needle bar and upper feed mechanism. By my machines is always annoying to get some movements. How is this solved by Juki I rerally don't know. check on which axe the needle bar is hanging, is there and screw that you can loose, and than by rocking the wheel you push the whole assembly slightly to the left.
  9. Yes, two years now and my leathers are all fine. I will give a final report in a couple of months - no time now - and then do a yearly report, if anything changes. Thank you @fredk for all of your input. I believe that we have contributed a little bit to understanding the effects of different oils on veg tanned leather.
  10. Yes, the part in your hand is the needle position sensor. Check if your hardware kit comes with a collar and extra long screw like this: If it does, remove the stock handwheel screw, and install the collar (with extra long screw) in its place. Then the needle positioner fits around the provided collar instead of around the shoulder of the actual handwheel.
  11. Yes, that's the point. I need either to move needle bar or feed dog, depending on what is ajustable on this machine to have everything in line I just don't know how to do that. This is why I came here and asked
  12. those deserve a double *groan*
  13. This came with the servo, a needle positioned right? The hole on it and the nub on the hand wheel seem like they're the same size but it doesn't seem to want to go on. Am I missing something?
  14. This one's sort of leather related! Another sewing machine joke:
  15. I like it! I especially like the finish.
  16. Thank you guys for the ideas!! I’m going to take a look at it tomorrow. Will update then!
  17. Yes, the cat version will definitely be available, but a little later, since I have a hand injury and can’t hold a needle right now 😏. Once my hand heals, I’ll finally continue this series of bags with animals peeking out of purses and backpacks But I do have other cats 😺 You can find all my cat designs here: https://leatherpatternts.com/product-category/beginner-leather-patterns/https://leatherpatternts.com/product-tag/cat/
  18. I'm declaring that my part in this experiment is at an end 2 years and nothing bad to report
  19. sheeesh! deer in your front yard! I'm very jealous All I get are seagulls
  20. Nice work!
  21. Thank you, Pastor, I wish the fence wasn't in some of them but my front yard was full of Deer, I went to go out the gate, and this is what I saw lol. Right now it's just a piece of wood the same size as the whetstone, I sewed the pocket on flat so I had to wet form it to shape.
  22. Your tag line kind of gives it away ... Looks like an even dozen to me!
  23. Way back when I was only sewing for about 2 or 3 years, I bought two post bed machines with roller feet off some shoe maker who was going out of business. I used them to sew Marlon Brando style biker caps. I even sewed a Cowboy hat or two, and sewed patches onto ball caps. One day, I counted all of my sewing machines and discovered that I owned 13; a Bakers' Dozen! They included everything from a flat bed tailoring machine to a huge Union Lockstitch machine. That truly was a rabbit hole. Then, I moved and sold all but two machines. I eventually sold the big ULS and went into computer troubleshooting. I finally escaped from the sewing machine rabbit hole! Then, one day, as the computer troubleshooting was winding itself down, I saw a National walking foot machine for sale, cheap, nearby, and bought it. Y'all can guess what happened next... More rabbit pellets.
  24. Wow! Great work @chuck123wapati as always! Really like how you framed up the photos too. Is that a sharpening stone in the outer pocket?
  25. I can't speak to parts differences, but moving the needle is moving the whole needle. Away from or closer to everything on either side.
  26. The hand sewn hat in my profile pic is what sent me down the sewing machine rabbit hole.
