With the motor unplugged, what happens if you grab the middle part of the walking foot with your hand and raise it?

I'm searching old threads to figure out why my 111w153 longest stitch is 6/in. I've reset everything according to Uwe's videos ( I would be sewing without them). Something caught my eye here above "eccentric gib locking screws weren’t in the groove" . Is there a video or diagram showing this adjustment? Thanks

@dikman I bought the plastic templates out of China on ebay. I've found them on Temu as well. They're very cheap. About £/$5 for all five Just the other day I found clicker dies for a couple of them on Temu. I bought the elephant one for £11

Anyone know of a commercial 45 degree edge cutter?... something that will accommodate more than straps?... or even an existing product you know of that might be modified to achieve the angle? Thanks...

I used a pattern from a Romania leather guy off of YouTube. I think he's probably pretty well known. My hands hurt afterward, but I learned a lot and am excited to start my next project. I want to make large leather goods like this...maybe a duffle bag, hand bags, or a backpack next. I don't want to be a seller of my projects. I hope to become good enough where I can gift these items. I included a link to two pictures of my tool bag. Tool Bag

If it's for your personal use, my understanding is that it's legal. The problem comes when you sell it.

I wanted a simple key fob to put on a vehicle fob for identification purposes. On the back I put my cell phone number and on the front a simple design I could do with repurposed tools on hand. The design is the one on the side of the vehicle, and was simple enough to get a clean, clear, debossed design with what I had. Made it out of some scrap, debossed it, put a split ring on it and glued it, dyed, stitched, and sealed it, and it was done. It's in my pocket right now. But after making it, started to wonder if it's legal. No, I'm not going to sell it; it's the best thing I've done stitch-wise, but it's not that good. But how legal is it?

Sore hands - yep, but it gets better as you do more sewing! Finding a suitable machine under $400 is a big ask, not impossible but.....read that article AlZilla linked to and then reread it to gain an understanding of what you're looking for. You'll likely be faced with either continuing to hand sew or upping your budget.

A very quick search on google (not hard to do ) immediately shows it is a high speed single foot garment machine.

Fred, those little animals are brilliant! If you made a clicker die to stamp them out in bulk or second choice use a laser to cut them out your cost will be minimal. Where did you get the patterns?

Hi guys, time for me to weigh in. I just closed my shop at Webb Road Flea Market in Salisbury North Carolina. If you are thinking of selling your handmade leather items at the flea market, you must sell other items as well, many folks have the Walmartians disease's, where everything yis less than the worth of your time. I sold motorcycle leather and motorcycle accessories. The belts were just ok but not enough to make a living or pay rent. Cases and other items are not good sellers when china is selling their items way cheaper. do yourself a favor - sell items anywhere other than the flea market

On most of those items we are the opposite! eg. Height, person, now in centimetres. Weight; person, Kilogrammes, Food; pre-packed = grams, or loose at a grocer = imperial, Distance, miles. Most fluids are sold by the litre but you still get a pint in the pub

As previously mentioned, it is not a walking foot machine. Some of the best known Singer walking foot machines are the slower speed 111w155 and 156 (w/ large balance wheel pulley), as well as the higher speed 211w155 and 156 (w/ small pulley). There are also some older Singer walking foot machines that have whaat's known as a spring foot. These have a foot that simply follows the material as the feed dog pulls it back. They only had bottom feed. A proper walking foot machine has at least dual, if not triple feed.

I have a Singer 211U166A that I got for free, including table, servo motor, bobbins, and needles. I'm completely new to sewing, and the machine was not working when I got it. Fortunately, a local repair guy got it going, and I was able to sew several things with it--not leather, but some very thick, heavy, multiple layers of cloth (mostly, sailing-related). Yesterday, the bobbin got jammed, and my foot slipped, no doubt putting a lot of pressure on the drive, which resulted in a clunking noise, and a screw that connects to the reverse lever even fell off. I was able to replace the screw, but now the walking foot seems to not be walking. Specifically, the middle part of the walking foot stays pressed down on the fabric the entire cycle, and hence the cloth does not feed. I have posted a short video here: Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Rodney, I sure don't know of any off the rack patterns for modern riggings. I can only think of three rigging makers now and I don't think there is anybody wants to sell their patterns there either.

Fred, Canada officially switched to metric in the late 1960's but I think from what you said above, we're like the U.K. The transition was never 100% This chart explains it quite well!
