No. I tried it. My wife had some and it is not nearly strong enough. I also tried the stuff from Springfield or weaver and that was OK, but doesn't hold a candle to the 3m stuff.

ok thought to ask all of you since many of you have been tooling for some time. what is better to use when beveler tooling the checkered/textured or smooth? would checked be totaly different to textured when tooling? does the checked or textured hold the dye better to giving more deepth when you dye not matter the kind of dye? testured tools would be like pebbler or matted style & checked tools would be more one with many dots or linesl & has the roughness? I have use all the tools I just never learned all the proper names or what to use them best for & such. thanks again everyone for being so helpful.

Help completing sheridan style pattern
jstern replied to jstern's topic in Floral and Sheridan Carving
Hey guys, I apologize for the delay on this, I had to shelve this project for a bit and do other stuff. I started a new pattern, taking into account all of the advice I was given. It's not finished yet, but I am more pleased with this one so far. Still have a bit more to fill in and clean up though. -
Also when using Pro Resist and the Wyosheen I would use a damp/wet cloth around a block of wood to wipe off the excess followed by a dry cloth around a block of wood. This wallet was done with Pro Resist with no dye. The block helps leave the antique in any depression It just has one coat of antique and the antique is not near as dark
-
I agree, very nice indeed.
-
Sheridan Brown I wipe it on with trimmed sheepskin thin and fast in circles against the flow of the tooling and wipe off immediately with a cotton cloth wrapped around a block of wood. I did this piece in 5 different sections. I like the color the antique finish turns it but after you buff it out it still comes out pretty light.

I'm moving overseas and am liquidating my studio. This post is for the AccuCut GrandeMark2 die cutting machine. I've used this in my studio for years! An affordable and zero power way to cut out shapes using board dies. Includes tray and plastic die covers. Excellent Condition. $400. To see an example, I've got a 1 minute video hosted here: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/dpoo6k5xipszd973p9w9n/IMG_2508-2.MOV?rlkey=7b27qffr2j7w99jw1sb83yo4k&dl=0

To me I think it probably has more to do to a individual machine problem then a manufacturing problem as a result of wear, over‑tightening/under‑tightening, or a damaged screw or clamp. If you are able to check the machine inspect the needle‑bar clamp and screw for wear and or other damage like a buckle needle bar, stripped screw / clamp and check that it is tightened properly and then if all is good re‑time the hook‑to‑needle as per the service manual, if not replace damaged parts then re-time. The PFAFF 2545 is manufactured in the P F A F F Industriesysteme und Maschinen GmbH factory in Taicang, near Shanghai, China. My experience: The Juki DU-1181n is a decent walking foot machine but the quality is nowhere near that of my Juki DNU-1541S. The difference is the 1181N is made in China and the 1541S is made in Japan. kgg

Help completing sheridan style pattern

Fantastic work! -
Can I ask what color of antique you used on this project. Whatever it is, it looks great.
-
Hi thank you Dealer don’t know about this noting and as I see no one here knows about it also so I think it’s nonsense so I need to go there and check for myself Iam very curious to know what's really going on there, it's just that he lives really far from me, but there's no way I'll have to see it. Thank you very much.

The antique finish is always going to tint it a little bit. This piece has NO resist at all. I usually use Wyosheen for resist and topcoat. This piece has NO resist at all and I antiqued it three times to get the tooling dark enough.

Help completing sheridan style pattern
Tim Schroeder replied to jstern's topic in Floral and Sheridan Carving
Thanks @YinTx Never sold any but have given a few away. If anybody wanted something I already have I would be happy to share with them. If somebody needed a certain size pattern to fit something I would help them no problem. I would just be glad someone thought my pattern was good enough to use. I always have an issue somewhere in the pattern I don't like. I am getting ready to make my wife a new purse and I have redone the drawing a couple of times. Working on a wallet pattern as well for myself. They are finished but I need to go have them mirror imaged. You can see in some of those drawings I draw one side and then get a mirror image and put them together. On a tote bag or purse, anything with two opposite sides I will mirror image the whole pattern and one side is a mirror image of the other side. My 20 yr old printer can shrink and enlarge but no mirror image. I did notice just now I failed to mirror image the basket weave. The cats love these things. -
Appreciate it, there's no giant rush. They all look pretty closely related so not real reason not to list them together. It's up to you, really. Your edit window has closed on the above post. You can either add a reply to this thread and I'll kill these couple of posts so the info immediately follows the original post, or create another post(s) and I'll kill this thread. I'll keep an eye out for how you proceed. Meanwhile, we'll leave this thread here so you get exposure. Let me know how I can help.
