I might have run the right side stitchline out at the edge then run another line close to the gun for retention. Maybe made it wide enough to have a stitchline all the way around the outside perimeter and another next to the gun. Partly just for visual balance. The lettering and the stamping above it could be deeper but otherwise are are spot on. Overall, I like it.
  3. Two boards and some C clamps or a solid surface, a mallet and a sacrificial piece of wood
  4. Nice work! Looks great. It's worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it.
  5. The holster goes inside the waistband and the only thing sticking out will be the clips. The holster will hang on the waistband and the belt Like this:

  10. I feel ya, doesnt seem like a good system there. A belt loop could be ok, but not with this particular type of closure. Maybe with a sam brown stud or something. As you mentioned, for that type of carry your idea would be viable. This just isnt for that. It's meant to keep in a bag or the car or something. I do want to make foldover pouch style too at some point @SUP it is a classic pattern. Nothing wrong with it. I think id like it better stitching the corners down flat instead of rolling them inwards. Just quicker to make that way. And maybe some hidden magnets instead of this type of magnet closure
  11. Thanks for the advice. Here is a pic of the holster with the gun.
  12. I don't know what you're planning to make or what leathers you'll be working with.... If it' something like soft leathers or thin stock for wallets, etc. Maybe a small die, a 4 ton is probably ok. I had a 10 ton and a 15 ton clicker and found them coming up short on cutting force. I have 25 metric ton machines nowadays and they'll cut most anything. Even now though, I come up a little short of power if it's a really large die with lots of cutting surface and the stock is hard/stiff.
  13. Had to ask, used to get a lawyer that stashed his glasses in a long pouch style and he would destroy his eyeglass case just by hanging them on his belt with an 18 inch tether, which got caught on everything! Chairs, stools, turnbuckle doors, car doors and trunks, and his easy chair.
  14. Hey all, So I have a bit of a conundrum… Is there a way to use clicker dies without dropping the money for a press? Possibly a deadblow mallet? I know the Vevor press is quite affordable, but it’s still $200 that I don’t have. My “shop” is just myself, my wife and daughter (so really just myself lol), so any time I save by skipping templates I can put into my forge. Or doing dishes. Depends if the wife is home or not… Thanks for any thoughts/advice/commiseration, AZR
  15. I have had great success with diesel and so so with penetrating oils. Once you give it a go with synthetic transmission oil the smell usually is gone. Another suggestion is to use heat like from a heat gun or propane touch and when it is hot hit it with oil for a fast cool down. That may free it. kgg
  16. Plenty of people who actually do not carry everything but the kitchen sink on their belts, you know. 🙂 It is actually a popular glasses case pattern, isn't it? Simple and elegant. 😀
  17. This was more fun. It has a magnetic closure and wouldn't be suitable for a belt, plus the leather is a little on the softer side. Ive also never seen anyone with an eyeglasses case on their belt. If we're to do a foldover pouch style. I'd add a clip to clip to a pocket
  18. I believe that is where the term "range tan" evolved from, my Golden Retrievers robbed my floor of a few scraps and left them in the grass, I placed them on an outside table and the weather made them a great color. I left the scraps out for two years, all it needed was one summer month
  19. Why didn't you just make a pouch type holder with a belt loop ??????
  20. @friquant The new stitch length cam I have in stock uses allen screws to the shaft.the others are still slotted.
  21. I made a hard seat smooth-out saddle with just some basket stamped corners several years ago. Took me about four hours more time being careful to not make marks and then rubbing out the ones I did with antler tines and bones. The guy picks it up and carried it out. He threw it on its side on the diamond plate flatbed of his ranch pickup and bounced down the road. I was thinking then what a waste of my time being careful. Here's a picture of it a couple years later. Smile says it all. Yeah, don't sweat it, it will be fine!
  22. I had some horween essex in parisian blue that's been lounging in my shop for ages. So I made a glasses case. It was fun, im not 100% sure i care for this pattern but it still came out nice
  23. That sounds good! I'll do that as soon as I get the set screws sorted...both set screws (both the one that goes in the main-shaft-groove and the one that does not) have one ear broken off. Planning to cut a groove in the top of each set screws to make them serviceable again and put them back in for now. Tempting...we just got the machine back to smelling good again after its initial bath in P'Blaster. 👃 I guess we could relegate it to the porch for a few days..
  24. Nice. The skirt shape gives the holster a Frazier-ish look.
  25. Hey all, I’m looking for the Craftool 8540 wildcat stamp, or other similar wildcat stamp. Yes, a different stamp is listed with Tandy now, but a different post mentioned that there is some confusion on the product. Apparently the 8540-00 motorcycle wings stamp is branded as Craftool, but is actually made by a different company, whereas the 8540 model actually made by Craftool is the wildcat stamp I’m looking for. So, if you have a wildcat stamp that you’re willing to part with, whether the 8540 or something else similar, then I will make it worth your while to drop it in the mailbox. Shoot me a message, and we can work out the details… TIA, AZR
  26. Nice work. don't worry too much about the color, or lack of it. Chuck is right. Nothing looks better than aged leather. I have wet molded it and set it in the sun to dry. It also speeds the natural darkening process, giving the leather a nice patina.
  27. very nice !!! in a year, you won't be able to tell the old from the new. they will darken naturally in the sun and look better with age.
