  1. Hmmm....lets see, looks fairly simple to me...sew the bottom part of the outside bads, then attach to large bag skirt, finish side seems...attaching the hole side bag to skirt, finish skirt and big bag add ons....done.... You always have to add the sidebags first to the skirt, then finish skirt and bottom and flap for bag....did I get this right...!???
  2. Looking for ideas how to make a gun holster purse, with compartement (zipper) for med. frame auto...anybody ever made one, pictures, ideas or patterns are welcome... Thanks so much !! Jim
  3. Been careless and took an order from a gunstore to start making mid size holster purses ( purse holster...) I have been making some handbags, purses and backpacks....but the extra compartment for the mid frame auto baffels me a bit...how would I start.... Anybody has made one or have ideas and hints...? Pictures, patterns and some drawings would help.. Thanks so much James
  4. Looks like low quality leather, do you use belly or near belly parts....well taned veg tan leather should not behave like this...wet forming can take extrem shapes and forms without wrinkles... Try different leather... james
  5. I use 3-4 oz high quality veg tan for bike seat shapes....lots of curves there....on holsters I use 8-9 oz...shaping involved but sturdyness needed....as said, veg tan, thinner is better to form and thicker holds shape better....thats it.
  6. Sure can, looks good, add a few more details and you on your way....about anything can be carved in a bike seat....if you can draw it, trace it or dream it...it can be done!! Only limitation I see is what kind of shape or design your seat is....thats it... Just practice a little bit on scrap leather and then go for it....ohhh and make sure you have a back-up design in case you get married after you tooled this seat!!!
  7. I dont know nothing about the machine!! But I do know what words you said when your thread broke over and over again....hehehee... Lets start with finding a user manual in PDF format, shows how to thread, then make sure your thread bobbin is not keeping the thread from coming off easy feeding to your thread bar on the machine....check the thread bar for burrs...now lets make sure your tension disk is in working order for the top thread...make sure thread is in between and tension disks are some what loose....pull thread and check....now feed thread into remaining holes...run thread thrue needle and make sure thread matches size of needle....make sure needle has no burr or nick....check with finger nail...check bobbin hook for burr or nicks, then handwheel your machine till thread engages in leather and see where the sudden brake if any apears... I used to forget to take of the protective plastic baggy of my thread spool, guess what...top thread breaks...hahaha... its only a sewing machine, you will fix it....just go step by step!! Ohhh and get new needles too... Again, have no clue about your machine... Aloha
  8. stick a 1.5 inch piece of wood into the belt loop while damp and bone it also, it will take shape of your belt sample and will get a hardened edge, bone well on both sides and create an three dimensional look of the loop....lasts for ever!!
  9. I chop mine up into very fine particles, add some cheyenne pepper and some parcley, roll it and smoke it.....then lean back and have all kind of weird ideas for my next leather project!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  10. the only way to do this....and I dito above....with a steady hand, glasses and a super fine high quality brush!! Go practice and then do some magic on leather with acryls!!
  11. Looking to do a complete car in veg tanned leather, all the front seats will have carvings and the back seat will too....some cross lacing on the seams and of course flame skulls and such!! Anybody ever done this, what leather and what oz would be good, should I carve on the actual cover or should I use thicker leather and then sew to the leather "skin" of the seat....how would I keep the leather in shape to the seat, would I need to wet form the pieces, what kind of seam would work on veg tan leather > french seam...? anybody have pictures or drawings, also will do the side panels....these should be easy... The car is a Buick 1950 2-door and all will be styled like Rock-a-billy California style stuff... OK, anybody up for ints, info or sources...?? Thanks upfront for good leads... Jimbob
  12. Hello to Denmark....look for a Adler 267 in gray color, the white ones are China made, still good machines! These machines are good for max 3/8 or less.....the thread you are looking for in 415 is waaaay to big for this Adler....you need a Adler 205 to handle this thread size! And these suckers are expensive, now made in Chechien....not Germany but still very good quality. There are many good used machines to buy in Germany ( I am from there...) but it all comes down how much u want to spend. Make sure u buy from a good dealer with good service! Pfaffs are good ones too, dont know much about them....I am an Adler fan, haha
  13. dampen ur edges with water and burnish with a wheel or cloth or some leather (grain side ) put some ellbow into it....heat is the factor....then put some wax or leather finish on these edge, maybe some color and ur wallet looks like a million dollar!!! Right now it loks already like 999.999....haha...well done!!
  14. Super nice....and all the good colors!!!>> orange, black and white!!!! Harley racing colors !!!!!!!!!
  15. I second that, always try to thread the thread into the needle eye and see how loose you can move the needle from one end to the other...that thread needle combo should be fine. In your case, I think it is more a top tension problem....knots coming op, loosen top tension, knots visible on bottom...get more top tension....that's all there is to it.....very seldom you have to mess with the bottom tension!
  16. I have seen your other work and I know you are a master of the masters in leather art...but this saddle is a step up, if there can be one at your level .......guess what I am trying to say is: You are an amazing artist and you are the most artistic leather craftsman here on this forum!!! Greetings Jimbob
  17. Consew machines are a solid stable in the upholstry business, you find tons of feet and attachements....I have an Adler 105 for big stuff, an Adler 267 for light stuff, like wallets and such and finally an Adler 30-10 for the odd stuff.....just as Wiz said...now I am all good...or am I....haha... Remember, one machine cant do it all....and you never can have to many sewing machines!!!! James
  18. Nice belts, I do a lot belts like this on my Adler 105-64...love top stitch on belts and straps! Pay close attention to your top thread tension, on these pictures it seems like your knots trying to come up to the top!! Which would mean your top tension is a bit tight or to big of a needle... Well done!! James
  19. No more holding back here.....you need to show off more...!!! Very clean and nice work....thanks for sharing!!
  20. To much gun exposed in my opinion, remember I am a beginner in holsters.....but I think a small light weight gun as the LCP is accidently coming out of this holster in no time....it needs to have more holster on the slide side to be safe.....Love your finish and the style, also like it to be an open bottom holster.....no debris in barrel and no moister to collect....love your stitching!! Snap on rigs are not safe in my opinion....but easy to take on and off....again, as said....customer is king, what ever they like... Remember me just getting started, so take it with a grain of salt.... James
  21. Hell fire and Marsian cookie dow...brother....if this is your first attempt...I like to see your second one !!!....and ur third one and ur fourth one and....well u get the idea!!!!! Super nice!!
  22. cool strap, like the details and color.....just getting a bit more into guitar straps myself...well done!!
  23. Super cool, super nice design, super color, super stitching....Dude that is super!!
  24. Do yourself a favor, stay away from ebay!!!! Call Steve or Toledo Bob, they all have these machines tested and sewn off...yes maybe you save 200 bucks, but down the road when the ebay dude long forgot your name....these dealers on here will help you in any way they can! Jimbob
