yeah, since about the very early 40'S....mater a fact, they beat every Harley in racing, where super well build and absolutly beautiful....super expensive too!!!.....made in LA in California.....if you find one in ur barn, expect to get at least 50 Grands for a chunker!!....If I remember it right there are less then 125 known Crockers alive today!!!!! Nicely restored and original complete ones run close to 130-150 Grands!! And Dale Walksler has one in the Museum standing there too!! Love this place... James

exactly.......what I was looking for.....thanks, that's some darn good advice....mag relaese issue....never thought about that one, hmmm...logo issue, aware of that, told new owner about it wanted it anyway...stitching....need to take more care to do this right. gripp issue....the owner wanted max protection to gun, holster is more storrage then actually to draw from, but will keep this in mind for next holster! Paddle is semi reinforced ...( heat hardened leather ) need to make one for myself, have nice 44 special 5 shooter that I like to carry....of course wheel guns have different issues. I will hang around here more often, seems this is a very solid bunch of guys with holster knowhow! Again, thank you for all the info!!! Jimbob

OK, been making knives, sharpening them for 30 years and able to sharpen an ax to be shaved with ( show off,,,,haha) Water stones are used with water because they are more corse and oil would not stay on the surface....oils stones have a much finer cristal consistency...so they keep oil film longer and better....and yes they will clogg up...easy fix....wrapp a stone in a wett rag, put in safe container and put in stove and cook for 30 minutes on medium heat! The stone will be like new....now we all talk about stones, much more important is the way you sharpen, how you hold the knife, tool or ax...haha...what angle, what degree,,,,what steel is better to sharpen what is not....you can sharpen eventually a knife on a piece of card board.....it is not so much the stone and the oil or water....it is the way you hold, handle and guide the tool to be sharpened. Only my two cents, now I get back finishing my shaving with my old Marbles ax...hehe... James

Not sure if I showed this one here,,,,its a Ruger SR 22 holster to the liking of a customer...custom paddle in the back is for storing the holstered gun in a special console between seats....and eventually for short walking trip in pants or pocket...!! Still learning big time in holster making....but enjoying it big time....there are so many ways to make a holster....and so many ways to make it better,,,,so here I go. Thanks for letting me know what ya all think... James

Been to the Magie's valley motorcycle museum in NC for the XXX times....haha, they have tons of cool old bikes, all American made....and of course all assecories that go with these early hard-tails!! Well, these kidney belts really did the trick to me....so I just had to make me one and show it off here....hopefully I caught a bit of this 40's and 50's spirit and it shows a bit that I am in love with vintage and antique bikes!! (and mostly American made iron...yeahhh, a few Guzzi's and MV Augusta's are in my heart too...haha) Cant wait to ride back to the museum wearing my kidneybelt.... Let me know what ya all think... Fixing to put the Adler 267 to use, need to make a table top to make her fit....can I buy one ready made, if not what would be a good material for table top and how do I make her fit into the table top, Singer opening is smaller and more narrow then what I would need for the Adler to drop in..??!!...planing on using my Singer base, legs and servo...and trying to have an interchanging table for both heads...maybe just adding an removable table top on top of the Singer opening....also how would I do the hinges...?. But if all fails the Adler will be main head on this table. Thanks for any help... James

Wiz tnx for the info and advice....the needle thing struck me, makes sense if the holes are to big, the knot is loose and may slip up or down....I am real lazy about changing needle sizes.....will try spring replacement....bobbin direction is ok, feeding under tension blade also! I am gonna try to use smallest needle for the No. of thread I will use next time.... Again, thanks a lot for helping out... Jimbob

Having problems....with super loose bottom tension.....on my Singer 211G-155... Seems that the bottom tension is so loose, I cant hardly use 69 on bottom...tje spring loaded tension screw is all the way tight....if I use 138 on bottom it is much better but still on thinn material the knots showing on top every now and then.....I have virtually no tension on top just to be able to sew......seems this just happened latly.... If I use 138 top and bottom, on at least two layers of 3-4 oz I am sewing fine....wonder if anybody has hints to this problem!? Thanks James

1850's Southern Cheyenne Sheath
Jimbob replied to ChuckBurrows's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
Museum quality I think they call this....so aucentic and so real.....like walking down a grassy pass in some no-man's land in Dacota in 1850's.....picking up one of your works....makes you want to go back in time and see it with your own eye's....!! Wonderful work!! James -
call Toledo Bob or Steve....they will tell you what works and what not, 15-91...NOT, 206 still not enough....a 441 clone or an Adler will do....1/2 inch of leather is a load full and you wont be happy with a broken overloaded machine either... Look for used ones from above dealers....stay away from Heavy duty garment machines....oh, and read wiz's tutorial on leather sewing machines!! Greetings James
