  1. A seat pan covered for a friend....I left the original high density foam of about a 1/4 inch on it and used 15 oz saddle skirting to make the top, the bottom is made of 3-4 oz veg tan and the dye is Vinegeroon... All stitching is done as close as possible to the edge with an ADLER 105-64...the thread is bonded Nylon in 138. A bit of neatsfoot oil, several layers of leather conditioner and a simple seat is born... Hope you all like it. James
  2. My new 267 has arrived, now I am getting real exited.... I am in need of a few add-ons...like a zipper foot....left and right, anyone would know where to get a good deal on these and are there used ones out there... Also will have to make a table top to convert my old table to fit the metric messurements of the Adler ( new layer of MDF? ) ....anybody ever build a table tob and cut out the opening to make it fit....? Thanks for any input. James
  3. Free is always good, but I think for what you want to do a bit on the lean side.....I have a Singer 211-155 and about 12-14 oz is max, will readily take 138 thread top and bottom and yes, as stated....1/2 inch sounds about right....you might need a larger machine for what you want to do?! But as said, a freebe is always a keeper.....and this one will make chaps and wallets, bags and such all day long....I love mine. Jame
  4. had to let go of my 31-15...she will be missed...!!!

  5. Mike's sewing machine repair, he is in Lebanon VA....30 min from TN....but depends where u are in TN....he is very good and VERY cheap!! SEnd PM if you need help....
  6. Trox.... just read they take only up to 140 needles....that would be just barly enough for 138 thread....but people say 207 thread is possible.....did I read wrong?? Jmaes
  7. Nice, clean, pro look, slick!!.....Ohhhh and I also love the look of the bottom welt!!...Well done... James
  8. Trox, ....I am married....hahahaa...I will let her know about our plans...see what she says....hahaha!!!! Thanks anyway about the great information, seems you know your Adler stuff....I will keep the 211 as back-up....never a bad thing to have a back-up when you in the middle of a customer project and something goes wrong!! So, I will keep dreaming about all these cool sewing machines and one day my wife will hopefully let me have one of them "fancy" ones!! Greetings James

    Singer 188K

I have a near mint Singer 188K, this is NOT a heavy leather sewing machine, but does nicely heavy canvas and light garment leather, also light wallet work...needle feed, good condition and either on table or with a attached motor to opperate....could be operated portable!!? Will trade for leather round knife ( good brand or vintage! ) or other leather tools....if it sells it be about 90 bucks.....make me an offer. Will send pics if interrested.....I live near ZIP 24251 276-690-508four james
  10. Thanks you all so much, fine to hear that it will take 207 ever now and then...my main thread staple is 138 top and bottom, so I would be fine me assuming! Trox, I wont have a EFKA motor or such, I know there are great....but I have my trusty servo with rear reduction from Bob Kovar and that will have to do me... Also good to hear it can do thicker leather....I will do bags, wallets and chaps on this one....my old Singer 211-155will be a back-up from now on! I need reverse, the Adler has that. The singer 211-155 is a great machine, ( which the Singer 111 is according to others the better of the one ) just want to make sure that the Adler 267 can handle what the Singer 211-155 can do... James
  11. I had my mind set on a Adler 267, but now I am not sure how well they work and if they can do what I need... Chap leather double or tripple, 2-3 oz veg tan doubled, some thinner bag leather three times folded....and the usuall wallet stuff, making backpacks and such.....been told it will not take more then 138 thread on top, but I guess that will do fine for me.... Are there any Adler 265 owners out there with info and also interested what other flatbed machine would be comparible to this Adler? Hope to get a little input on this matter. Thank you for reading this... James

  14. I am looking into either a Consew 226 in nice shape, or a newer Consew 206 rb5... Now I wonder how much difference there is between these two? Also like to compare them to a Singer 211.... I have several options and wonder if there is any opinion on these machines! Thanks James
  15. been tooling a lot on 3-4 and some 2-3 oz...only thing is not to cut to deep..of course all in all u wont get very much 3D out of your tooling....but it does work!

lot of my seat tops are only 3 OZ !!

    Hope that helps a bit!

  16. Having an old trusty Singer 211-155 and slowly thinking about getting a NEW Flatbed like a CONSEW, JUKI or Chandler...I was wondering about the look and style. They all look like they are a mint copy of a Singer 111 and also some parts will fit from a Singer 111.....now my question is: The Singer 211 series is, me assumming....the upgraded and stronger version of the older 111....why are these new machines copied having the Singer 111 as model?? And do I go backwards when I purchase a copy of a 111 instead my 211....of course, I would get a brand new machine.... I just wonder if a new 211 copy exists or if I just should have my 211-155 refurbished and use another 50 years or so.... There are quality differences in a 111 series and a 211...or is it just the design?? I absolutly love my Singer 211-155 ( wish it had reverse!!) but of course the smell of a new sewing machine...hmmm...well guess ya all know what I mean. Maybe some of you guys with a new fladbed can join in and help me out... Thank you James
  17. I have a huge aftermarket ( I mean huge!!) handwheel on my Adler 105-64 and it does very much help to slow down, but mostly it gives more punching power (touque) and that in combination with your smaller motor pulley is a great gain! As described in one of the post's, a mechanism like a speed reducer with an array of pulleys will help even more....and of courese if you have a DC servo with gear reduction, like Bob Kovar sells you are all set... ( I have 2 of them and love 'em!!) What ever works, what ever you can afford and what ever you acctually need is a go....keep us posted! James

  21. Hello, how is the leather world in Bulgaria??

  25. Very nice belt, deep carving and seems like a stout construction....all in all a top notch project. The only thing, if any I can see anything... is the somewhat inconsistence border of the carving to the sewing line....guess that would be the outer frame of the carving design....but in no means anything that takes away from your craft! Very nice, and very time consuming too..?! Well done!! James
