  1. I would get the Ferdco hands down !! I have had one for 20 plus years with no problems at all. In all that time i have adjusted the reverse screw twice. Never had to set timeing or anything else. Plus you get the special parts that Ferdco came up with. I don't know a thing about the Cobra except what i have read, never sewed on one, heck i never have seen one. But i do know what my experience has been with the Ferdco Pro 2000 and it has been great !! It's very rare to see one for sale or it has been for me anyway.
  2. I'm sorry to hear about your loss of a loved one. I don't have a pattern but i just gooled leather urn and seen round ones that i think you could make useing a piece of plastic pipe or something along that line and sew it up with curved needles. I seen somebody on here use a plastic pipe to form the ends and they used big hose clamps to hold the leather while it dried. Not sure if any of that will help.
  3. RJinWA your message didn't come through if you sent it on here.
  4. It looks just like mine except yours has the bull right above Ferdco and I have had it over twenty years. Plus it says Juki right on the head just like mine. It's Japenese Juki that Ferdco modified with their special made parts. I really don't think I would take 3,500.00 for mine. They cost 5,000.00 over twenty years ago.
  5. Try putting a pice of masking tape on the where your going to stitch and see if that helps. The tape should come off after stitching and not show in the stitches, or that works with a piece of paper on the back side anyway. Try it on scrap first.
  6. You can do what your taking about without a problem. But I would take the stitches out and start over. Peple are paying agood price and should get the best work you can do IMHO.
  7. Once the oil is on / in the pieces that were put in the bag it's going to be there. Theirs no way to get out that i know of. I do remember somebody saying corn starch will help never tried it and if you do i would just try it one piece. If they were mine i would oil all of the pieces that got oil on them and go on with your business. Thing's happen, it was a mistake that probley won't happen again.
  8. Yes you can stain / dye both sides of the leather. The grain side / smooth side will always look the best though. I'm not sure how thick the leather your talking about using is. I don't understand MM's to well and i'm to tired to look for conversion chart...LOL. If you glue two pieces topgeather the botton pice needs to be cut a little wider. Glue both togeather and then trim, you may need to sand the edges some depending how well you cut the extra off. I don't make and leashes for sale but the ones i have made for my dog i used one piece of leather. He didn't care. But to resell finished on both sides could be used as a selling point. I use Angelus dyes and really like them. The dyes are nice bright colors for the most part. I use red, blue, burgundy, ox blood, green, purple, and pink sometimes. I like them a lot better than Febings dye. The acrylic's are paint i think. Not something i would use to color a whole leash with. I have never used a air brush so i can't say about that. Their are people on here that do use airbrushes though. Maybe one of them will answer that question for you.
  9. Pretty sure you will get more comments putting your pictures here instead google if their like me and don't want to do a bunch of exra steps to see the picture.
  10. Good deal, glad you have it up and running.
  11. On my machine I have very little tenson on the top with 277 thread. I have to tighten the tenson a little when I use 138. On the bottom tenson I don't fool with after I get it set. I never really noticed any differnce any differnce when I put bobbin in backwards. A couple of times a bobbin didn't wind right for some reason I would have problems. When I got my machine I was told to set the tension for the thinest thig I would be sewing and it should be good for everythung else. So far that has worked most of the time.
  12. Sounds like your top tension is to tight. Back the top tension screw back off a little at a time sew and adjust till it looks right. Heres a link explaining it better. http://www.threadsmagazine.com/item/4302/understanding-thread-tension/page/all
  13. What wrong with Bud ? He maybe like me, I call people I don"t know easy money. Nice looking machine.
  14. That is one fine looking seat !!! Somebody is going to be happy !
  15. Pull a string around them if their all ready on the machine them measure the string and you will have the length.
  16. Glad I was able to help. I have a couple of them and they are handy to have.
  17. Your video didn't show up. But it might be a quilting square / ruler.
  18. What your doing is what i do. Don't forget to figure in what you will lose in scrap plus mark up on the leather it's self. The 7 by 9 piece is 63 square inches times 13 cents a inch plus your mark up. I would buy sides their cheaper than buying by the foot like your doing.
  19. Nice job on the bracelets !! I really like the first one and the forth one. Looks to me like you should be able to sell all of them at a good price to.
  20. I've bought dye from him no problems shipped quick. Never bought any leather though.
  21. Well if bob helps somebody with a problem they can pass on what they were told. I really don't know but i would guess that when Bob retires his son will be there to help people. Me personally i have been on here for almost 6 years and i don't ever remember seeing one time that a Ebay seller has helped anybody with anything. The reason i said call Bob was because i have bought from him and he treated me fair. As far as the other dealers i have never seen or talked to any of them are bought anything from them. I'm sure their great people. I have seen were they they have helped folks out on here and other fourms. I knew Bob sells Consew machines and when i have called him or Bobby got me fixed up with what ever needles, bobbins and thread i needed. Plus their super nice folks !! Their are more people on here helping people with their machines than just Bob. Wiz, Steve, Darren, Gregg, Ronnie and i'm sure some more that i can't think of right off of the top of my head. Personally so far i have been able to figure out what to do if i had a problem with my machine by reading the post on here. Before computers i would have to take my machine to somebody when i couldn't figure out what was wrong.
  22. I agree 100% with you Bob !! I bet a person isn't going to be able to call a Ebay seller when they have a problem. It's like the old saying ( penny wise pound foolish ) you save nothing in the long run.
