  1. Hey Freak, The first one was really neat and this one looks like it is gonna be too. I cant wait to see what you have planned for it.
  2. Randy mentioned an article by his son Riley in the latest issue of the LCSJ. I just wanted to mention that the cover of this issue is carved by Kathy Flanagan (did pronounce that right Kathy?) aka Yaklady. Congrats on your first cover Kathy. There is also a nice article in the magazine that tells how she carved the cover. It's really fun to see articles like these written by your friends. Keep 'em coming Riley and Kathy!
  3. Hey Bert, I really like that!! I like the border shape around the tooling, I like the shell effect, and your tooling is always really nice. The thing I like the best is that we are getting to see more of your work. Did you do some sort of random stamping pattern in the background? That looks kind of interesting too. Ernie PS, Hope you have a great class with Jim this weekend. Sure do wish I could be there.
  4. Congrats on your ribbon Anne!!!! Now you have to keep entering more shows. One thing on those critiques though. With over 2000 members of this forum, how come NOBODY told me buffalo dont have feathers??????????????? I had to send my picture all the way across the country to a show to find that out. How embarrassing
  5. If you want a real hat (not one like Charley or Kathy have) go to Jackson Hole Hat Co. It's just a few hundred miles on the other side of Sheridan, but it's beautiful drive. I bet CJ would even line a hat with tin foil for you! Only bad thing is you might have to take out a loan to pay for it, dang, I could buy a lot of gas for what she gets for her hats these days. But hey, you're gonna have all that money you saved from not buying cigs
  6. What a wonderful gift. I'd be proud of owning a piece of Billy's work too. Maybe someday.....
  7. For those of you in Europe, you might be interested in the latest from Jim Linnell. I hope some of you get a chance to visit with him there. I'm currently scheduled to be at our new Tandy Leather Factory store in Northampton on June 28th and 29th, doing demonstrations, answering questions and just visiting with folks. Though our store has been open for a couple of months, we are ready to officially get it kicked off with a Grand Opening which will run through the end of June. Maker stamp

Jeff Mosby at Grey Ghost Graphics can make you a stamp with your design on it. Click here for his brochure.
  11. Hey Kathy, isn't that Charley's hat????? You better give it back to him before the show, you dont want Pete Gorrell making fun of you now, do you??? Sounds like Stacy and I are going to make the show on Saturday and might even stay overnight if we can get into one of those high class motels I stayed in last year.
  12. I joined the Columbine Guild just for the newslettlers. They are usually pretty entertaining. That reminds me, I better get my dues paid or I'll probably quit getting them.
  13. Hey Kate, The coloring turned out great, but then we expect nothing less from you That's really a nice looking board.
  14. Wow, you do nice work. Those look great!
  15. Thanks Brent (and Johanna) for posting these pictures. There sure were a lot of really nice projects entered in this show. It's a lot of fun seeing what everyone else is doing. One thing I notice is that there is a lot talent in the open class and hopefully that means there is a bright future for these shows. Brent, you gonna tell us which entries were yours?? I think I recognized a few other items that people have shown here on the forum before too.
  16. Leathercat, That's a really neat little cat you stamped. I like how you made the snap into his nose. Somehow I had missed seeing your coaster. You did a really nice job on that, especailly the coloring. You are doing some really nice stuff, I hope you keep at it. Clay
  17. I see you figured it out, so ignore my PM. Only problem is your pictures are really small. Can you send them bigger? Closer to 150-200K makes it a lot easier to see.
  18. Hi Freak, That was great. I think you missed your calling, you need to have your own talk show. You also picked one of my favorite people to be your first guest. I hope you do more of these.

    Anatomy Study

Hi Johan, That's an interesting pattern to carve on leather. It really looks good so far. I tried using plugs like Al taught for embossing once and really didn't like doing them. Leather dust putty is so much easier to do, but I can see where on this project, the plugs will probably really work well. I'd love to be able to peek over you shoulder and watch you make them. I'll be looking forward to seeing this finished. Clay

    first try at picture

  21. Hi Azmal, It's always fun to see what you have been up to. I can't imagine even starting a project that big but you just keep whipping them out. I really like the way you decorated this one with some tooling. I am a little surprised, but I even like the color over the tooling. Nice job and thanks for the pictures.
  22. Like Ken said, when the fast reply disappears, if you click on the button (sometimes I have to click it several times) it will come back and all you had typed is stilll there. On my computer, it's still faster to do it that way than to wait several minutes for the regular reply screen to come up.
  23. Thanks for the link Kate, there is some neat stuff there. I really like the stuff they do with the leaves and how they color it. Now I have a few more things on that ever growing list.
  24. Thanks for taking the time to show us how you do that Kate. It's something I have never tried, but it got me to thinking. I wonder if that technique would work on the leaf, grass and seed impressions that my wife and I were doing last year. One more thing to add to the list. Clay
  25. Thanks for putting those pictures up Johanna. There are some there that I don't even remember seeing before. It would be so hard to pick a favorite, but I think it might have to be one of the big cats (cuz if I said Emma, well that might get me in trouble).
