  1. Wow! I like it, and haven't worked with exotics either. Maybe I need to stay away from exotics based upon your post! I like Ostrich leg and Beaver tail because it has a great pattern and most people don't know what it is.
  2. I use a combination of GIMP and logo creator. GIMP is free on the web and very powerful. Logo creator is relatively inexpensive.
  3. Hey Peter, I lived in the old town part of manassas for about 12 years, on Battle Street. I moved from there about 14 years ago. Small world!
  4. Nice work! Do you mind sharing the color dye you used on the K-22?
  5. Here's a picture of the first sheath I've done other that a couple tandy kits. I created the design myself. I thought I was doing pretty well until I put the snap on. Unfortunately for me, I'm right handed! I guess this will make a nice Christmas gift for one of my left handed relative!
  6. I asked this same question a year or 2 ago. I know that one of the tools he used is the E294 stamp at different angles. I've always admired his technique, but I still want to know the dyes, antique etc he used. He called it "post apocalyptic". I've attached one of his belts that he posted here.
  7. I agree with Northmount and think black is a tough color regardless of the dye manufacturer. I have used eco-flo and fiebings and have good results with both. I like USMC black from fiebings, but I have used this method for the best results. I first Vingaroon the piece and let it dry. I oil the piece with neatsfoot and let dry. I then put a final coat of the USMC black dye. I've been happy with the results. John
  8. Kevin, Thanks for the quick response and I liked your pun! John

  19. I have not idea, but i once saw a post where they stacked a bunch of x-acto blades together within a swivel knife to make a hair blade.I think they used X-Acto x616, # 16 blades
  20. Nice work! I'm impressed by how well you've formed this to the butt of the gun. Is there a trick to this? I also like how you've attached the sling. I'll be stealing your method when I try my hand at this! John
  21. Nice work! The first one looks like it has a texture on it. If you don't mind me asking, How did you texture it, and what dyes did your use? Thanks, John
  22. That's an odd request for a Bible cover! lol. I really like it. The skeleton really jumps out at you. I also like the background and the textures that you've created. John
