If you are using very thin mother of pearl you may want to mount it to a backing like a piece of plastic. Something rigid that will give the mother of pearl extra support. It can crack.

Are you looking for workers at your site, or are you looking for someone anywhere mailing items to be done? Where are you located? What specifically are you looking for as far as leather work?

Not sure but you might be talking about what some people call toggle buttons. Here is a picture of some chaps with a rolled toggle button.. Also a video tha tgives one way of doing them. A togglle is formed by taking a triangular piece of leather and rolling it up. once you have secured your roll you can cut the end to even them up a little. Lets see if this is what you are reffering to. If not perhaps you can supply a picture as an exampel. http://on.aol.com/video/how-to-make-a-leather-toggle-517261904

In the pinned topics in this forum is one that says making a strop. Art did a tutorial on making a strop board specificaly for edge bevelers. He used horse hide, I made mine with veg tanned and it works fine. http://leatherworker.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=36221 Also here is a you tube video of using the Weaver strop board for edge bevelers. similar to the one art did. Tandy also has a free video showing how to care for edge bevelers and shows how to make a similar strop board. http://www.tandyleatherfactory.com/en-usd/Use-and-Care-of-Edge-Bevelers.aspx

Holster / Sheath Combo
camano ridge replied to Greg528it's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
oops, I picked up on your registered date not the date of the post. -
DeadPhan, looking over the posts, I don't see where you ever said what project you were wanting to start out with. WIth some information as to the type of things you intend to do we may be able to give you better pointers on where to start. Kits are not always the way to go, they may seem cheaaper then buying individual items, however they don't work out that way if half of it is stuff you will never use. It may not only have things you won't use but may not have enough of what you need. doing light weight leather will take different items then heavier leather for holsters, horse tack etc.

camano ridge replied to Greg528it's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
Not a totaly new concept just a different execution they don't look bad. I think I like the first one best. I the second one supposed to snap around the belt? Are these the ones you posted on The High Road forum in 2010. Pics look the same. here are a couple more examples of holster sheath combo again just different execusion. -

I agree with Bob, before tarnishing anyones reputation call Frank aka whoever and give them the oportunity to make things right. As to the shipping damage if the shippment was insured call the shipper you have recourse through there insurer. If it was not insured then you may have no recourse for the damage. It is not the sellers liability unless you can show that it was improperly packaged and that led to the damage.

Would Like To Make A Border Similar To This Any Ideas
camano ridge replied to camano ridge's topic in Stamping
Yes, I believe it is a stamp like the 9 shape and then a border or camo stamp. I found a sheet of Midas stamps that had a picture very similar to the 9 shape. -

Fredo, nicely done. -
Let the oil migrate into the leather the color should even out. 1 hour at 135 is a fair bit of time. I put my gun or mold in the wet holstershape leave gun in for about 10 to 15 minutes then throw it in the oven for about 10 to 15 minutes. Take it out and put gun back in for about an hour then remove the gun and let it air dry over night. (just my way of doing it). Don't throw it in the trash just yet. Trust me we all have holsters that did not turn out exactly the way we wanted them. They are called lessons learned. What di the Tandy guy say?

The acrylic spray is a sealer. Once you seal the holster the oil will have a hard time penetraiting into the leather. Oil first let the oil migrate into the leather over night then spray if that is the way you want to finish it. SHow us a picture before you seal it. We may have some helpful ideas for you. Wetting the leather will allow you to stretch the leather and you may be able to remold the leater in those areas.

I f all you have done is dyed it. Wet it run it under the faucet for 15 to 30 seconds or sip it into a sink full of water for about 15 sec. Your holster should be somewhat pliable take the gun if it is not stainless wrap in plastic wrap and push into the holster until you get it to fit. If your stitch line is appropriate it will seat where you want it to. then leat it dry.

Would like to make a border similar to the picture below. Not sure which border stamps were used I can't find anything in all of my stamps that come close enough. Looking for something that looks similar to the stamp that looks kind of like a nine. If any one knows who make that stamp or one that looks similar, I would appriciate any info. Thanks
