  1. Do you mean the Virginian Dragoon Single Action Revolver in .44mag. If so I believe they are close to the same specs as the Hawes Western Marshall. Let me do some checking and get back to you I might have something to help you out.
  2. THis one must have been hiding I didn't see it until now. They look pretty nice.
  3. ijohnson, I hand stitch. I have a awl blade (sharp) chucked in a drill press it pushes through the kydex with no problem.
  4. That is some sweet work. Very well done.
  5. I would say you are using some pretty thick thread for that stitch count. I am right this minute stitching something 7spi using 277 thread. I will try to post a pic in little bit. It is nice and clean looking. I would think 432 would be kind of bulky looking for 7spi. I don't know what you are sewing, however I think you might get a less bulky look with that thread if you went down to 5spi. Do you have a picture of what you have stitched so we can see what your concerns are?
  6. Ed was just on this forum yesterday, send him a PM or call them. I think they are just back logged with orders because of the quality of their product. Hang in there the wait will be worth it. I have mauls and burnishers from them and they are great.
  7. Looks great. Personal preference I think I would have rounded the corner top left. It looks pretty pointy and will probably get beat up pretty quickly.
  8. I am looking for small brads to hold on strap ends. I have some old Sterling silver for a head stall the strap ends are held on by brads. I was on a site a few weeks ago that had brads for belt/strap ends. Can't remember what site it was.. Wondering if anyone new a sorce.
  9. Red, the cylinder on the Duncans Bearcat that I have is 1.24" call it 1 1/4" so about 1/8" difference, that will affect the height as well as width. As you can see from the picture above there is considerable difference in size and shape of frame. I usually just call Duncans 1-989-894-6691 and talk to Jason. I find I get answers much faster. Jason supervises the dummy guns and knows exactly what they have in stock what will be sent to the factory for casting and he has a running list of what people are interested in having cast. As soon as they have enough interest in a particular item they cast it. I do not know how many of the Bearcats they cast, I just know I was able to get on e I think it was in February or begining of March.
  10. Red, if you are refering to the Ruger Bearcat .22 single action, the SP101 is not going to work. I will post a picture of both in little bit. The cylinder on the SP101 is bigger then the Bearcat (I will mic it out for you). The frame configuration and barrel configuration is different. The Bearcat has the ejector rod to the side of the barrel.
  11. Red, A couple of months ago Duncans made a run of Bearcats. Check with Jason at Duncans to see if they still have some. If not PM me I have one and would be willing to loan it out to you.
  12. Are you looking for something like pictured below? What Model Smith is it? If you get a pattern how are you going to form the holster with out the gun? When I need a gun i can't get my hands on I make one out of wood. If you have basic wood working skills find a good profile picture of the gun, print it out then enlarge to the actual size. Cut the paper gun out and trace onto something like 3/4" pine cut it out. Then cut off the barrel and replace with an apropriate size piece of dowel, then cut out the area for the cylinder and fill that area with an apropriate sized piece of dowel Below is a picture of a wooden mold I made. It is a Colt New Service Revolver. THe silver is Duct tape used to get the correct diameter. If you have basic skills and some basic tools it take about a half hour. PM me if I can help.
  13. Provisional patents are only good for one year and it is my understanding you cnnot continue to use patent pending after that one year expiration date unless you have applied for a non provisional patent. Here are some facts you need to know about PPAs. A PPA expires after one year. You cannot extend a PPA. You cannot renew a PPA. A PPA will never become a patent. You cannot file a PPA for a design . The USPTO does not examine PPAs . The USPTO does not conduct a prior art .search on PPAs The USPTO does review PPAs to make sure they meet minimum filing requirements. PPAs are not published by the USPTO (unless claimed as priority in a later-issued or published non-provisional application). You can use the term “patent pending” for the duration of the one-year pendency of a PPA.
  14. raysouth on these forums has or had a lot of Pyrography equipment for sale, he had a couple of units similar to the picture you have you might want to send him a PM and inquire. Last I seen a couple of weeks ago he had his whole shop for sale as a package deal however if you ask he might be willing to sell the pyrography stuff. Most of what I seen in previous posts looked in like new condition.
  15. Red, there is a picture is there. Maybe it is not showing up on your end
  16. PM sent, chech the red envelope at the top of the page.
  17. Red, they just use the regular Alphabet stamps like the sets from tandy. Although the alphabet stamps are not sharpened they have enough edge to cut through the tape.
  18. Just google farrier apron or chaps and you will see examples that look close to chinks easy to adapt the pattern.
  19. After looking at the picture again and a little closer, I would haev to agree with WYo, they probably are for straightening saw teeth especially the top one. However the two larger are definately hand presses for rivets, snaps etc.
  20. You will have a hard time finding a pattern specifically for Farrier apron or chaps. However a chink pattern is easily converted to make a farrier apron/chpas. The modification will be to close the leather at the top and have the buckle in the back. You may want to lengthen the legs a little. Stitch on some tool pouches and put re enforcment patches from above the knee to below the knee, basically the area you would be resting the horses leg against. I have found it handy to have a magnetic strip stitched between leather on the apron. It is a hndy place to hold a few shoe nails etc. You can use canvas denier or chap leather, apron leather etc.
  21. They are all presses for setting snaps, rivets etc. Before buying them determine what size dies they will accommodate and make sure dies are readily available. Something to be aware of. I bought a press similar to what is there for only $10.00 however each st of dies for line 24 snaps, rivets etc. cost over $40.00. The two smaller plier like tools are hand setters or hand presses again for setting snaps etc.
  22. My suggestion is to call your local ATF office and ask them, get their answer in writing if you can. That is what I did. My understanding is no you don't. How ever I don't give out legal advice and use my understanding of wha ti was told for my own purposes.Te problem with laws is that they are open to interpetation. One agent from one office may tell you one thing but an other office might tellyou something else. I was told that the gun is not changing ownership. My understanding of things suchas Pawnshops they are licensed to trade guns and when they give a loan for a gun that has been pawned they are virtually buying the gun then selling it back hence a change of owner ship. Again this is my understanding and interpitation. That does not mean that you may not be held liable if something happens to or with that gun while in your possession. Again please don't take my word for it call the ATF and get your answer form them.
  23. domino, once again very nice looking holsters.
  24. I prefer lining my holsters and some of my sheaths so I sandwich any metal between the two layers. If I am doing unlined holster or sheath I use the snap covers or cunter sink the snap base. I do that by skiving the area of the snap so that it will sit below the surface of the leather. For snap covers thebluegunstore.com (look under makers supplies) http://037287c.netsolstores.com/snaps.aspx , or highdesertleather.com (look under DIY) http://www.highdesertleather.com/diy.html Picture is High Desert leather
