Can you give us some idea of prices, what do you have listed on ebay and under what seller ID. As to hardware you could probably sell a lot of it here quickly if you gave us an idea of what you had and price.

Where To Buy Leather
camano ridge replied to Red Cent's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
RJF Leather http://rjfleather.com/content/index.php and springfield leather are both sponsors on this site. I think you would be happy with RJF's quality and service. Roger is great to work with and they have no minimum order requirements. -
I am with Joe, post your work and block that guy so you don't need to see his needles PM. No matter how good your work is you have a right to post it we are here to help everyone including ourselves, we don't need to be rude about it.

Metal Reinforcement

Dwight, that would be Arvo Ojala, he taught most of the western stars of that era how to shoot, as well as developing many of the fast draw rigs. -
Not So Fresh Off The Bench

Youve been busy, very nice work. -
Your both correct. I son't know whay people get so bent about it. Altering coins for jewelry and decoration has been done for as long as there have been coins. ALl anyone has to do is go to the US mints web site all though they don't encourage it they say it is not illegal unless you alter drill etc. a coin with the intent to defraud. http://www.usmint.gov/consumer/?action=FAQ As there disclaimer says they don't interpret the law and neither do I, however what they say is good enough for me.

First Holsters, Tcp 380
camano ridge replied to 32x20's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
Take a damp white cloth rub the holster a little see if you get any color. If so take a course cloth and rub the holster until you are no longer getting any sings of rub off. Then seal again with mop n glo 50/50 or what ever you want to use. -
First Holsters, Tcp 380
camano ridge replied to 32x20's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
Did you rub off excess dye after it dried and before you sealed. How did you apply the dye? How did you apply the oil and how heavily did you apply it? If you oiled it to heavily it may be the oil leaching out. As to the dye using feibings I have had rub off, that is why you need to rub it down good after the dye has dried -
First Holster
camano ridge replied to panku82's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
Not bad for a first holster. Only comment you have a fair bit of leather between the edge and stitch line. A little of that could be trimmed away. I would alos bevel and burnish the edges. May I aske why you soaked the leather for a day? A good dunking or 20 30 seconds under the faucet getting it wet enough to be some what limp and pliable is all you need. I have made some very detail molded holsters and never had to soak them for very long. -
Duncans Dummy Guns For Sale ( Walther Pps, 1911 Gov )
camano ridge replied to Shooter McGavin's topic in Old/Sold
I don't know if shooter still has them, however Duncans are cast aluminum dummy guns and are silver in color. -
Pappy what style of sheath are you making, can you show us a picture? Is it just a veg tan sheath you are stitching fringe into the main seam, or is it a rawhide sheath?
-
I think you have created a problem for yourself. When you put those on your bike and go for a ride you are going to get orders for saddle bags whether you want them or not. Great job.

A picture would help. FYI if it is the same CIRCLE Y, Circle Y has been making saddles since the 1960's alittle over 50 years. Here is a link on reading there serial number plates. If it is only one or two numbers that is actually the style but means that it was made in the 1960's because that is all the information they put on. http://www.3gemstack.com/servlet/the-2130/How-to-read-a/Detail

I always use a buffing wheel for polishing on my finished knives, both blades and handles. There is a safety factor and you have to be very alert when buffing a knife. If given the oportunity the buffer will grab your knife and throw it at you.

How To Attach An Already Made Beaded Rossete To Sheath
camano ridge replied to Pappys Leather's topic in How Do I Do That?
Your right, many of the rosettes are made with monofiliment, espescially the ones from Tandy. Craft stores and beading supply place sell monofiliment as jewelery thread. There is a brand Fireline that is monofiliment line how ever it does not yelloe or breakdown like standard fishing line. Monfiliment is commonly used in beading and attaching thins like rosettes. However as you said fine thread will work also. -

Stitch it to the sheath using monofilimanet line. -

Is it a finished sheath or one you are making? Do you have a picture of the sheath? -
Here is a thread that shows one method of making a grinder a burnisher. You can also remove the grinding wheel and maunt a Drill chuck to the grinders shaft. Then chuck in a burnisher.

Pappy, what is on the backside of the leather holster pad is it just leather/ If it is that could be part of the problem. You don't want to have to pull it tight enough to turn your leg blue. You need to have some friction as well. Either suede or shearling should help, neopreme might work but may cause sweating.
