  1. Get it "tacked' back on by a welder or get a 200w soldering iron and solder it back on.
  2. For those who don't know about it, there is an auction site for Government surplus stuff called Govdeals.com. They occasionally have industrial sewing machines. Tonight I watched a pristine Consew 287RB go for less than $500(w/o shipping). I cried. That said, if you check this site often, you may find a deal on good equipment.
  3. Sounds like 'Fear and Loathing in Sheridan'..... I hope you can rest when you make it home.
  4. From CL Tallahassee,FL 05/05/15. For Sale-General. Just sharing,
  5. Thanks to Opus and you for sharing!
  6. Very nice! Where in Ga are you?
  7. Toss it, and start over. Better luck this time.
  8. I've used this method to clean stamps and tools that looked like they were used for other purposes(wax, paint, etc.) and they come out looking shiny-clean. I never thought about sharing this extremely simple cleaning method until now. I just got some tools from an estate sale and they were pretty nasty looking. Crud in the lines of the texture in bevelers, etc. Effervescent denture cleaner tabs. Put tools in a suitable size bowl, add water and a tab. 3 minutes later you're done. dry 'em off and start using your shiny, new looking tools. Does not degrade the metal in any way.
  9. Check your local library, I'll bet they have books on Leather-craft. Ours had several. Also, use the search on this site. Type in the keyword and go.
  10. Welcome from Tallahassee.
  11. Me too!
  12. I'm sittin' here pondering a project that requires different shades of dyeing in localised areas. i.e.- Mahogony in one raised area, Tan in another. Anybody used frog tape this way? I'm not talking color accents, I mean base dyeing. Thanks, Marc
  13. FSU!!!!! The FINAL BCS Champs!!!!!!! Custom Clock Faces made to order.....

  14. I just put fine steel wool into a gallon of white vinegar, cap it,shake it up every day or two, wait until all the wool is gone and run it through a coffee filter a couple of times and put it in wine bottles. A little bit goes a long way.
  15. Take it to a 'sharpening service'. You can find them in the Analog Yellow Pages between 'Sewing Machines' and 'Sheds'. or you could google it. Still get the shot though.......
  16. Go get a Tetnus shot, call Springfield and get a real awl. You will still need to sharpen it, but the quality of the steel is better and holds the point and edges longer. ask any knifemaker.
  17. Very nice. How much are you gonna get for it?
  18. I like the look also. Looks like it was 'distressed' by a Buffalo herd...........
  19. Go to your local laminated flooring distributor(i.e. Lumber Liquidators,etc.). The pressed-paper top covers they put on laminates pallets are perfect thickness for long lasting templates.Thicker than posterboard, thinner than corrugated cardboard. Ask politely how they dispose of them. Odds are they'll give you all you need.
  20. Round 'tuits', good for those jobs you'll do when you get around to it.....
  21. Satisfied? usually-with the caveat that the customer generally makes that determination. Happy? If I have met a challenge and won, regularly enough. In Awe of my Awesomeness? Twice- but that feeling keeps me pounding away..........
