  1. Tallahassee here. Hi.
  2. Good Luck!
  3. find some cardboard that you can compress to the thickness of your leather, use your templates to make the hat out of the cdbd, adjust pattern to suit. Make real hat.
  4. John, Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge. You have no idea how much you have taught me with your insights. I hope, one day, to get to meet you and shake your hand. Thanks again!
  5. Beautiful work! Where do you get the large oblong tube for the shell?
  6. I'm from Sylvester originally, lived in Agony(Albany) and Tifton before coming to Tallahassee. How's business @ the Agrirama? Marc
  7. get a LCD monitor/TV with a cracked screen, remove the cracked LCD and you have bright light, and diffusion with a clear screen cover.
  8. Try Centralia Fur and Hide, They've always done me right. http://furandhide.com/uploads/009-3001.JPG
  9. I do my drawings on paper first, scan 'em to my computer and a flash drive. I then run to office depot and have them make transparency's from the flash. I believe I paid .54 per trans. The trans is made of a thicker material and laser printed and last forever. Plus, you now have a digital file for back-up. . welcome to the jungle.
  10. Very carefully! and watch those toes!
  11. I have found that the easiest way to have long lasting patterns for tracing is to get the digital image in B/W on a flash drive. take it to Office Depot or staples, get a transparency made of the pattern. they will re-size for you. I pay $ .54 per 8.5x11 sheet. They hold up to multiple tracings exceptionally well, I have some that are over 5 years old that I've used dozens,if not hundreds, of times.
  12. Welcome back!!
  13. Cujos!! great job! I'm never truly satisfied with my carvings, however, I learn from each one. Nice Dog.
  14. Nice work! It's nice to find someone nearby! I'm in Tallahassee. Next time I'm scheduled over there, I'll drop you a line. Maybe we could get together? Once again, Beautiful Work! Marc
  15. Central Florida is horse country, Ocala has numerous ranches, not to mention the tracks in S. Fl. No SNOW!, sub-tropical climate. Just sayin'............
  16. I use a sharpie to mark the caps of dye bottles, on color dye I put a sample of the color on the cap. I have found that, since age 26, a magnifying desk lamp is a necessity, both in my Leatherwork, and Electronics. As far as whippersnappers go, did you listen when You were young and immortal? They'll catch on eventually, I did,and that was quite the achievement in the development of the species.
  17. There are two reasons for Thanksgiving. Answered Prayers, and,in some cases, unanswered prayers. Be thankful for both. Happy Thanksgiving!!!

  18. I load my patterns on a thumb-drive, take it to office depot and have them print as projector transparency. the stuff they use lasts forever and they can upsize, shrink it. Also, they do it all-I don't have to use my ink. I think it was $1.50 per sheet. I have not worn through one yet,and the ink does not smudge.
  19. Was it an Epilog laser, and if so,what model. Hell, I guess what I'm askin' is, what kind of Laser you used. Was the learning curve steep to adapt to lasing leather? Which part of Ark are you in? The dry part,or the hot part?
  20. How long did the laser take to do it? Looks great.
  21. Raw Shop. It is actually organized......every year or so...............by my wife......then it takes a year or so to find stuff.
  22. It's not labor day, it's that little rainstorm named Lee that's hovering in the Gulf.................Stay safe!
  23. Do you ever get down to Chattanooga, TN. ? Great Work!!!! Ride the choo-choo!!!!
  24. Hobby Lobby has a decent(for an art&crafts chain) selection of tools and supplies such as hardware and dye.
