  1. as always your seats are amazing. Have fun and let us know how it goes. I have been going to some bike/car shows and have done well. I always found myself buying something when attending these and it didn't have to be expensive just some thing as a memento of the day, so I started making key fobs with biker related themes just stamped, single color and selling them for $5 and last Saturday I sold 40 of them. Didn't make a killing but handed out cards with each one and they will have some of my leather with them everyday and when they are ready for some other leather they hopefully will remember me.
  2. I use 92 thread and a 21 needle inside and out on my wallets. Sometimes I will use 207 on the outside also.
  3. Just completed a new smaller size biker wallet. It measures 5" x 3.5" when closed. Herman Oak 5 oz has pockets behind the card slots and zippered pocket.
  4. Thanks all the guy that did the laser engraving has a tombstone business. If your interested look up someone that engraves tombstones.
  5. I had a local retailer inquire about making him some wallets as I ask what he wanted on them he said he had a guy that would laser engrave his design and then if I could assemble them. I said sure but I'm not responsible if the laser destroys the leather. So he paid me the money and I cut out the wallets and dyed them and passed them off. When I got them back I was amazed at how good they looked I finished them up and he picked them up. I guess never underestimate peoples Imaginations!!!
  6. I just completed a new flask. This one has a funny story......I'm in my garage dying this with the garage door open and a Mormon missionary dude approaches and we talk for a few minutes and he asks what I'm working on and I'm thinking "Of all the days to do something like this" he compliments the work and we say our goodbyes.............
  7. This is my first Pad folio and I just finished the cover tooling. Any tips or pitfalls to avoid on assembly would be great. It is HO 5 oz and I will add some stiffener. I just oiled it before taking picture.
  8. Hello all I have a customer that wants me to wrap his knife with leather and build him a sheath for it. The sheath part I'm good with but the wrapping the handle I need some advice. Here is what I was planning on doing please critic and advise if I'm nuts or what I should avoid doing. Cut 2/3 oz leather into 1/2 inch strips and start wrapping from handle closest to blade and work my way back. Not sure how to finish it off I thought I would make a cap out of some 4/5 and glue it. any and all thoughts welcome
  9. Benlilly I didn't make the saddlebags just added the rockers but I did design them for the bags.
  10. I added the rockers to his saddle bags and then he wanted a matching belt to go with it. I treated the rockers with SNO-SEAL to help with it being outdoor gear. I apply it generously and use heat gun to warm up leather and pull the sealer into the leather. Does anyone else use this or what do you use?
  11. Customer picked up his wallet tonight. Sorry about picture I didn't have time to take nice one
  12. I bought some of Sandy Brown Bridle leather from Springfield and it was pretty nice. So I made a few belts. The darker one I used cherry stain on it.
  13. I do fiedbing medium brown or dark brown then use cherry stain to give it a deep reddish brown color
  14. Grey I dilute fiebling black with denatured alcohol 80% DNA 20% dye and use my air brush
  15. jduffy I know how you feel. Check out this thread http://leatherworker.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=40068&hl=reddevil76 Reddeveil 76 helped out with the thickness problem. I have since created a different style of wallet interiors. Hope this helps you out
  16. Here is another wallet off the bench and turned into cash today. It's made with 4/5 HO and I tried some buffalo calf for the interior. It was nice to work with. Kangaroo laced.
  17. wallets look great I really like your design. If you don't mind what ounce leather are you using?
  18. Logan, My name is Jason Fay and I have been doing leather work almost 4 years now and I live in Hemet not to far from Wildomar. I do not do leather as my primary income so I don't think I could afford to join as a business owner but I would be will to help out with the construction of your leather goods and maybe learn a thing or 2 from you if your interested in something like that.
