So the controller box has a problem - probably the fuse as you noted. If you have a voltmeter you can check to see what sort of voltage is present if you can access the contacts (both sides). If one side is line voltage, that would say to me, fuse is missing.

Good memory! I'm sure you are right about different suppliers. When cutting MDF with a circular saw, I've seen sparks fly. I would suppose that it may be from whatever grinders they are using, or some scrap that gets picked up from truck boxes, loader blades, or whatever during handling.

I've seen bits of metal embedded in MDF. Fine for stropping since you're not cutting into it, really smooth.

Depending on how you are cutting, sometimes the knife wants to follow the wood grain. Self healing cutting mats are nice as they are all marked out in measured squares making it easier to layout and cut straight lines with a guide rule.

@Leathershark I just tagged you in this post in answer to your question. It is used to send a notification to a member. You can tag several members if need be when replying or asking for help. You type the "@" symbol followed by the user/member name and pick it out of the popup box. If you skipping picking it from the box, it will just be text with no notification to the member. Tagging a member or quoting (using the quote feature) a portion of the post will send a notification to the member. Sometimes members haven't setup notifications or they're not working, so tagging or quoting is helpful to ensure they get a notification.
