  1. Yup, I know what you're referring to. Even have some. Will definitely give it a try. Thanks, wildrose!
  2. Ah, now I understand. Thanks again, Elton!

    Beautiful work, Storm!
  4. Didn't know about the sheep wool trick. Will have to try that. How short should it be trimmed?
  5. Thanks, Elton. It does bring up another question. What does "bleed the knots in" mean?
  6. First time I hear about string sticks. What are they used for?
  7. I received a package today and seeing it was from Scouter, I got all excited. My PIF had finally arrived! So all excited, I opened the box, read the letter and then unwrapped my gift. What a lovely piece!!! The work is so delicate and well done! The design and colors are just perfect, and your work is awesomely well done. I love it!!! *big beaming smile* A BIG THANK YOU, John! You can be sure it's going to be in a place where everyone can see it! And everytime I'll look at it myself, I'll know how much you put into it too. Thank you again, you've made this girl very, very happy *big hugs*
  8. Nice job, Jim! I like the fact you used a piece of leather for the latch.
  9. Beautiful work, Beezachoppa! I too would like to know how you make those feathers.
  10. Tina - Thanks, Tina. I know how much I love tutorials so I figured I've got to do one too! Beaverslayer - Thanks, Beaver. It's the way I learn and I'm all about sharing. That's what's neat about leather work, everyone is so willing to share their knowledge with others. One of the main reasons why I love it so much Kani - Thanks, Kani. My way of sharing with others Froghunter - Thanks, Ken. Yup, you did mention it, but it feels good to hear it again. Tells me I did good
  11. Thanks, Mike and Clay. Doing the tutorial was the least I could do since I'm a sucker for tutorials myself!
  12. Welcome to the forum, murse. You'll find plenty of friendly folks here to help you out. And get a cable for that camera so we can see your work
  13. Beautiful work indeed. Nicely done, wildrose!
  14. As promised, I'm posting the tutorial for the notepad cover I made for Ken (Froghunter). I made PDF files so you can easily print them out and refer to them as you work. One of them is the tutorial and the other is the cutting pattern (I indicated a safe area where you can put your tooling). Johanna - I'm not sure if I'm posting in the right section. If I'm not, feel free to move it where it should be. If you have any questions, ask away and I'll do my best to answer them. Enjoy! 15. Thanks for the info, Roo. I'm looking into getting an airbrush too and all the info I can find beforehand is good. Didn't know they make silent compressors. Will definitely have to look for one of those. And yes, please keep us posted on those paints.
  16. Wow, Ken, this looks awesome! I'm glad you didn't post this before I did your PIF 'cause then I might have chickened out! I just love the alligator theme you've got going. Works real well. And your stitching, in my book, is spot on
  17. Beautiful work. I like how you made the purse look different and thus, unique.
  18. Good looking work, Cecil! Makes me want to try background dyeing.
  19. Ken - Wow *big beaming smile* I sure I'm glad you like it. I had real fun working on it, that's for sure! Wolvenstien - It's dudette Thanks. It was my first time trying those decorative cuts. I'm pretty happy with how they turned out. One thing is sure, now I know how to keep my swivel knife sharp! Beaverslayer - Thanks Beaver. I guess I found my calling. I just love leather. I still see some flaws in my work but I get better with every piece I make. I guess that's what counts, to keep improving with every piece Rayban - Thanks, Rayban. The font is Abaddon. I found it on the Internet and it's free. The scrolls were also inspired by a font called Poke. Also available for free on the net.
  20. This is off to a great start, Ken. Love the branch coming from out of the frame too. I will be sure to keep an eye on your progress. Keep 'em pictures coming!
  21. You got that right, Pip. Depending on the quality of the CDs, they'll last anywhere between two to five years.
  22. Nice piece there. Thanks for the info, zman. I'll be sure to keep it in my mind. Guess I should go looking for already cut pieces to try my hand and see if I'll be any good. Putting that on my list of things to do during my summer vacation.
  23. Guess I'm off to a good start then. Already have the jewelers files and the dremel. Magnifying glass wouldn't be a problem but when it comes to the scroll saw, that's another story! I'm curious though, what do you use the scroll saw for? Oh, while I'm at it, what kind of burrs would I need to work metals? I have a bunch that came with the dremel and I also have a set of diamond bits.
  24. Not my preferred pattern, but very well done and the braiding is really cool!
