An Experiment
drkuhn replied to blanddragon's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
The holster looks nice! I have seen a few holsters like this but the mag holder was on the front side of the pistol. The mag ends up sitting around 2 - 3 oclock postion with the pistol sitting around 4 or 5 oclock. Too see if I would like it I just repostioned my single mag holder to about 3 oclock and practiced some reloads. It really was not to bad. A little slower on the change but not bad. I carry this way quite a bit now because I do carry my phone on the left side. I tend to flash my mag holder when drawing my phone out so I just move the mag to the other side in front of my pistol. With practice your reloads will become smooth. I may have to try building a single rig and see if I like it better. I do like the freedom of the single mag holder and being able to put it anywhere on the belt. Great work! -

My First Two Holsters
drkuhn replied to jlaudio29's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
Better than the first one I built. Particle's videos was one of the things that started the leather bug in me as well. Particle thanks again. Is the pistol in the first photo a eaa zastava? If so how do you like it? -
1911 - 3" - Leather Weight
drkuhn replied to particle's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
I've been using 6 - 7 oz on the body and 8 - 9 oz on the stifiner around the opening. I will say most of what I build so far is IWB holsters so it does not seem to be a problem. I can see where 8 - 9 oz on the OWB would be better. I have a cheap holster, I purchased once OWB made out of what looks like 5 - 6 oz. I really do not like how it feels. It is has a cocked and locked snap closer but it really feels to thin in my opinion. The opening colapes very easy. Reholstering the gun is dificult. -
Very nice. They look real good.

Wow! Very nice. -
Welcome. I just joined as well. I noticed you have a PF9. If your interested. I have a couple of In the waist band patterens for that pistol. I would be glad to scan them and email them to you if you would like to try and build one of them. Good luck on your projects.

Looks good. About the only way I can tell is to see a pic with out the pistol from the top looking in. I agree it appears to need more molding. What weight leather is it?

Thanks for the welcome. I think I will be on quite abit. Lots to see on here. I watched some braiding demos online. Seems very dificult to me. I think I would go cross eyed. I thought it would be good to learn and add some braiding to belt work for my girls. I may have to pick your brain. Thanks again.

Thanks for the invite. Sorry to say I am booked tomorrow. I own my honey one painted kitchen. I am in the Newton area. I think I agree with the addiction comment. It sure feels that way.
