  1. I personally came within one inch of buying your belt for myself , cause I cannot equal that. I even e-mailed you! You, Sir, are an artist. Sleep well tonight! Kevin
  2. Hey there! There has got to be somebody in Iowa, MO. Indiana, Wisc. Michigan, Kentucky Etc. that makes boots and wants a paying student???? Who is it?? Kevin
  3. I'm thinking vertical, with a dummy antenna. And a back opening "slit". Still gotta be unloaded to be legal, and the case has to be closed (Illinois law) (velcro?). Maybe the mag in a left pant pocket holder? Need to test, time to impact, VS. open carry ( not an option). Just a test. Will prototype and take to the range Sunday. Post later. Kevin
  4. Jake, don't feel bad. I think this "solution" gives the Cobra guys what the CB 4500 already had. That's why we just don't understand. We did'nt/don't have the same problem. Just smile and go on. Kevin
  5. Katsass and others: I totally agree with the Carry words spoken here. I have a CC Permit in 38 states, and don't need one in several others. But..is it better to have a weapon, in a case, unloaded, per law here,,, or just be unarmed at all? Yes, taking it and the magazine out of the pouch and setting the magazine, then racking takes a lot of time. So does waiting for LEO. Kevin..in Illinois..The only state with NO CARRY permits.
  6. Hi Steve, congrats on a good machine there. I have a CB4500, myself, but the sewing is the same. This is what I was taught and hopefully will help. Others will chime in shortly. I was/am a little confused with your statement that you sew back to were you started. I'm guessing the only way to do that is to sew across the buckle end, from the finish side, back to the other side. If so, don't. I start about three stitches from were I want the stitch to actually begin and set the first stitches in reverse. then start forward. This LOCKS the beginning. I then sew around the belt, to end on the other side, and reverse again three stitches to LOCK the end. I DO NOT cross over a belt, as that will tend to weaken the leather, at a stress point. SOOO.. my stitching is a..U shape, beginning and ending with a DOUBLE THREE STITCH. Hope that makes sense, if knot, somebody will correct me. Kevin tight stitches
  7. There is a video on youtube, just search "sharpening an awl" I didn't think much of it, but it's awl I've seen. It'l get you started. It is to the point. (Sorry for the bad puns.) Kevin
  8. Woooh Jake: (Cowboy talk for stop).. Maybe the reason you've had thirty views and no answers is we don't know how to sew around a quarter either with a 441...and haven't even tried! The feed dogs won't handle that tight a turn, to my thinking, and keep the stitch even. Just kidding. Slow down on that practice stuff, itall come soon. You will need to: Stop, needle still in material but raise above hook, raise foot, re-position material, raise needle, position needle to the next desired point, lower foot, do one stitch. Repeat till tired. Kevin
  9. Hey Tim: Buy it now and make the trip in a month to pick it up. Back road trip through the fall leaves and all? The 31-15 is the bootmakers ideal for stitching tops and intricate work. NOT good for heavy sewing. Kevin
  10. Jake: Not that bad if you live in Illinois and unloaded in a case is the only LEGAL way to carry. MUCH.. better than nothing, to my mind. Nice carry case. Gives me ideas. Thanks, Dirk Kevin
  11. A point on adjusting your table height. Unplug the d@#$ thing before adjustment. If you raise the table, its the same effect as pushing on the pedal. If your fingers (thumb) are in the wrong place a guy COULD get a needle through his nail. Duh, how dumb would that guy feel? Kevin PS: Don't forget to adjust you chain length.
  12. Just proves there is more than one way, to sew a cat.
  13. You should feel stupid, Your into leather work. Duh,.. what were you thinking?? LOL... We all have done things like that. Just go on. Kevin
  14. Well, dwight, that leather tore for a reason. Maybe it was made too tight, maybe the horse was REAAAALLLY FAT! LOL Don't try to cement. You'll need to add a piece of leather (any good kind) between whats there, to widen the sheepskin, and hand sew it, if that's to your liking. Good sewing and tight stitches! Kevin
  15. You did just fine PILGRAM! A right good start. 20 tools+-. Now, use em, and post the results on here. Welcome and GOOD LUCK. Kevin
  16. Looks to me that you did some really nice work there, and you should be very proud. OH yea! The leather looks good too. Kevin
  17. Why the great stitch on the weak side back girth and Latigo on the strong side? Why not finish up the totaly super job? Just a question. dosn't need an answer.
  18. oh MY GOSH! What a great saddle. I think even I coude ride that all day! Wonderful work, and looks like a great tree, too!
  19. Don't you guys in UTAH ever sleep? OK, how about oxblood and black for a black cherry. Black cherry is one great color you cannot buy!
  20. Welcome to the forum! That picture looks a lot like one I saw on Craigslist in Quincy Illinois! Maybe yes, maybe no. I didn't want to buy it, if yes. Wait awhile and follow the sewing machine threads here before you jump in with both feet. Spend some time here, another machine will come along. Again Welcome to the best site on earth for leatherwork. Kevin BTW where are you in these big USA?
  21. You know what? I didn't even know I had a problem with my CB 4500 SERVO ? Been using it now a couple years. Never knew I HAD A PROBLEM. HMMM. Maybe Bob will solve the problem I didn't know I had.!! HMMMM. Really look forward to an improvement. I like better. Kevin
  22. Now for my view. It's OK to sell retail AND wholesale, Just NOT IN THE SAME MARKET OR UNDER THE SAME NAME. For several years I owned and operated a multi-million dollar company that sold retail in most markets, and yet sold wholesale in others. We packaged for our wholesale customers with their names, not ours. We "protected their territory" by not taking retail in that area, no matter what. Of course this was a national distribution network, but it is done all the time. What do you think GENERIC food is? Processed in the same plant, same ingredients, same everything, and sold wholesale under another label. BUT, you do take less for the generic product, so the other guy can make money. Yes the quality MIGHT be lessor, but your name is no longer on it. It is a generally accepted way to TEMPORARILY utilize your productive capacity without cutting the value of your name or product to your current retail clients. IF..that's what you want to do..it CAN be done. With careful..business planning. Otherwise, DON'T DO IT. and NOT IN YOUR OWN BACKYARD. Just an idea to think over. Kevin
  23. Hey, Don your only 290 miles away. Come on up and use my CB4500, close enough to you class 4. Bring a pistol or two, and we will blow some holes in paper, while your here. Gotta a great outdoor range with olympic indoor training range. Kevin
  24. Just changing out a motor should never effect the stitch the machine was making before the switch. Something else changed. Start w/Wiz idea and trace all the obvious. One other thought. Do you now have the correct length drive belt? My change-over required ~1" less belt. Maybe? .. you are having a slippage problem??? Good luck, and when fixed you will love the Servo. Kevin
  25. HAHAHA! That's what I would expect a guy would say, that drives a green tractor. Start thinking RED. Kevin
