  1. Start with a rubber belt???? Most are not leather, but have ground leather as a filler. Kevin
  2. Your objective is to make holsters and belts. Right? I have a great 111w155 that I paid $325 for the machine, table, and motor. I have no idea what they are worth. that's MY COST.! Its not for holsters.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's a nice machine for chaps and light belt work, not heavy stuff. No idea or opinion on the other machine! Kevin
  3. I wish I had a BULL for heavy stitching. I've got a CB 4500, and like it. I think you need a lighter machine, not the "4" class. Look to ADD a lighter machine to your already great machine!. Kevin
  4. OK..it's great...how many $???
  5. To get to all you want...may take several machines..as you can see. I have a Singer 31-15, (~$200) for boot tops and light leather. A 111-w-155 (~$450) for a little bit more aggresive work. (still cannot find the spell check here!)!!! Heavy stuff is for the CB 4500.... (~$2000...2,600) Sorry, No easy way for everything ! Figure out where you want to start. Kevin PS: Still want a Campbell for the real stitch. Maybe next life. LOL Kevin
  6. Well I got an e-mail from Europe that Mr. Hale is a scam, selling fake tools, at about ten times there value. Guess if that's the reputation across the pond that may be why I can't find him. my tools, or my money. I don't know if it's true, .... but my monies gone and no tools, no contact, NOTHING. Also cannot find Frank English. The guy that said he was a boot making instructor and called Hale "for me" and placed the order. His e-mail is gone. His phone number I used to book lessons, gone The facebook contact phone number is disconnected. Hmmm. Both gone? HMMMM? Kevin
  7. Has anybody heard from Edwin? I paid several hundred dollars for tools in December last and get no answer. My last contact in December 2011 said his sources were on holiday. It is now July. Anybody else have this problem? Kevin
  8. OK! Try another route, outside the box, to slow your baby down. Do the wheel exchange to a 11/12 hand wheel at farm/fleet etc. You don't need the gear reduction , and the wheel effect will do wonders. Buy a 11/12" belt roller, add a 1/2 inch bearing and cut you motor wheel to 2 inch. Cost about ...fifty.. sixty. Not a bad addition to the 111w.
  9. Hi and good question! Do a search here on "skiving" and see more than you need on nice chrome edges. As art said, skive and roll to a perfect edge. Kevin
  10. I have two serve-pros from Toledo Industrial and love them. Under $200. Check with Bob. Kevin
  11. I picked up some stuff, from advice on this site, for "KG9". This is a silicone type paste that polishes and smooths the inside of a holster. Works pretty good. Forget where I bought it, but a GOOGLE aught to answer that. One problem I foresee is the inside is so slick retention may be a effected. Kevin
  12. Go to THEHCC.ORG and search there. Whole books can/have been written of Coad (many spellings). That would be your best fastest answer. Good luck. Kevin PS: If it truly stinks methinks, you are on the right path.!!
  13. I also chose the CB 4500 and could not be happier. It's not just the machine, but also the service by phone from Bob at Toledo industrial that I like. I'm confident the other dealers are good as well though. I also wanted the stainless steal feet and plates. In addition I have a couple of old Singer Sewing Machines and Bob's help has been great at a cost of say...ZERO! Just my 2 cents. Kevin
  14. YOU ARE NOT ALONE! It's those darn shop gnomes. They use your knives, and never sharpen them. They use up all your bobbins and don't tell you! And maybe the worst of all, they change you tempered leather into dry crap! Damn gnomes!
  15. I'll add to dirtclod's post. You can always add/get a flat bed for the round arm. Haven't seen anybody trim a flat bed to a cylinder. Also, for the possibility that you ever want to sell you machine, the +16" are the new standard and will be for ...say.. the next fifty years. Call Bob @ Toledo Industrial about sewing thin material on the CB 4500. You also mentioned your budget. A GREAT machine for lite weight material is a Singer 31-15 and can be aquired for ~~$250 complete. So maybe you can afford two!
  16. Great, Great request list. All here want the same thing! Try to find a 111w155, compound walking foot/clutch motor for SAY...$400 AND BUILD YOU OWN MACHINE.! Otherwise, wish for a SPACE SHIP TO MARS. I want one! Kevin
  17. I think PARTICLE has the best explanation of patterns around. Do a search. Kevin
  18. I think PARTICLE has the best explanation of patterns around. Do a search. Kevin
  19. Where are you at? Your bi-o says USA. Big country. I have a nice 111w155, slowed down and could part. In central Illinois. Kevin
  20. I wish I knew what I needed so I could just buy it. I know I need a walking foot but do not know I need a flatbed or a post bed. Any help would be appreciated. Call ALLLLLLLLLL the headliners on this site. THEN YOU WILL KNOW WHAT YOU NEED. Good luck!
  21. Time for my 4cents worth. One great maul from the BEAR GROUP, either one. Next, on second thought, nothing else, no second thought
  22. Really wonderful work. Why put non-fuctianel pulls on the boot. Quit when you are way ahead! Otherwise, nice job.
  23. YOU GOT LUCKY! If the motor you have, behaves the way you want it to, why question why? Just use it,... for say..the next twenty years. Then get the new best thing,.... then. Just a thought. Kevin
  24. Do not forget to call Bob at Toledo Machine. There are many machines to do the job you want.! Just another option. Kevin
  25. I REALLY HATE to agree with almost anybody.. It's a personal fault!... It is the sound of the needle going through the leather. And yes you can clean and polish a needle that has been abused/miss-used/miss-manufactured. As long as they ares still straight they CAN BE SALVAGED. Try the old "pool cue test". Lay it down and push it on a flat surface, see if it rolls even.. Good cue... It bumps and stops, bad cue, get another. Kevin
