  1. The problem comes in trying to secure the snap while you spin it. For chain link they lock in a jig but I don't know how you would keep a snap from spinning. Kevin.
  2. You might have to email Osborne, I bought some from Springfield or Tandy and they were different diameters. I'm still looking for a round shank awl blade for my arbor press. Kevin.
  3. I think the best roll would come from a spinning punch. Something you could turn by hand and add pressure at the same time, like a chain rivet spinner.
  4. Ellen; Google it and you'll find some stuff on that... Kevin
  5. Just to let you folks know, the Lion Ev-R-Round works great for cutting clean circles in this 8oz. leather.
  6. Nice work, what tool did you use to mold the leather to the gun? Kevin.
  7. Can you move ? I can get it through Canada Customs without a broker and ship it from here. There probably isn't much if any duty and the gst. Just a guess but you might be looking at less than a hundred bucks plus shipping. If you phone them and give them the value they can tell you what it will cost. All you want to know is the tax and duty on a machine not intended for commercial use.
  8. Nice work JR; that's a great job! If you take that corner off the next one it will be even better. Kevin
  9. Elton; How do you ID them for ordering? Kevin.
  10. How do you contact him? Kevin.
  11. The leather should be cased, same as tooling. Depth is personal preference but you will usually want a good impression for the dye or finish to sink in. Make sure you hold the tool at the exact same angle all the way around the work piece. Corners are tricky and require slowing down and concentration. Sometimes a swivel knife can be used to make these lines. Kevin.
  12. Ordered the snap in ramfoot, had it turned and threaded to fit my arbor press and tried a stamp on it. It works very well! Kevin.
  13. Thanks for that Billy, very sorry hear you lost your friend. Kevin.
  14. I had a bad link on that last post, here's a picture of the sheath.
  15. Thanks for the tip, I'm going to try a few things until I find something that works. Thin wall pipe might be the answer, even better if it works on an arbor press. I have a hole saw coming that I'll put on the drill press, the leather is glued to a board and the board is held by clamps. My only concern is some minimal wobble without the drill bit in the center but we'll see what happens. Another idea is gluing the leather to a round wooden disc and trim it on the router table using a bearing guide on the wood. Thanks again, Kevin.
  16. I find you get more pressure with a larger handle on the knife.
  17. You will have to put them in backwards doing it that way, won't you? I've never tried seating a rivet by pounding on the cap.
  18. If it's three strand you can crown splice it.
  19. You can use heat shrink tubing or lashing to finish the end.
