  1. You could frame them in leather then sew the leather borders trapping them inside.

  3. Crystal; Did you look at any of the commercial units for ideas? I don't have a machine or I'd offer some help with the dimensions. Kevin.
  4. Depends on the shop rate. Probably $40-$60. You could add a torque wrench but you can get a pretty good feel for the pressure required.
  5. Looks good, will speed things up and make the work easier.
  6. Thanks for the idea, I was wanting to put my logo on something. Kevin
  7. I have a 3/8 chuck that I can use on my press and it works well. I need a 1/2 inch for the larger leather punches. These normally have a single left hand thread screw that locks them onto the shaft. http://www.google.com/products/catalog?q=1/2+inch+drill+chuck&oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&um=1&ie=UTF-8&cid=14591904385008270782&sa=X&ei=XyaiTe_gHYTC0QHoybT7BA&ved=0CDMQ8wIwAg#
  8. You could go with a 1/2 inch drill chuck if clearance isn't a problem.
  9. Great idea on the fence and use of the bungee Mike, now we need a method to index the letters along the side to get equal spacing. You could leave the last letter in the impression to mark the next one but if you didn't have a spare letter set you would have a problem where two of same letters like ss were side by side.
  10. I've used it a few times now without any problems. There is ample room to slide a ruler in to line up the work or get your fingers in there to move things around. I just clamp it to a workmate and then stow it away when done. Kevin.
  11. Hi, I responded to your question about lifters, did that link I posted answer your question?

    Kevin.

  12. Very interesting to see this work, thanks for taking the time to make the video and post it. Kevin

  14. Tandy has an oval punch set as well down to 2.5mm x 4mm.
  15. I'd be tempted to put a piece of steel tubing like brake line or something smaller in a vise and flattening it down to 2mm. Sharpen the edges and you're good to go. Kevin.
  16. Try setting the same rivets in leather to see if they will pull apart. That might tell you if it's a rivet problem. If that works, try setting the same rivets in leather where the thickness of two pieces of leather is too thin for the rivet and see if they pull apart. That might tell you that the rivet you are using is too long for the project. It could be that the material is just too soft and won't support the rivet as you set it. In order to find the problem it will be a process of elimination. Kevin.
  17. No creep, no movement at all. Perfect circles every time. I'm very happy with this tool, now if someone would make it out of aluminum it would be even better. Kevin.
  18. I think that's the reason they invented paint, to cover up those sins.
  19. You could make your own out of leather.
  20. We're spit'n out coasters now!
  21. I see a problem with the flower in the lower left.
