  1. Nice effect, I like it done with the air brush too. Looks real good!
  2. Very nice, I like the white too.
  3. Thanks for all the replies everyone. And thanks for the photo Dwight. That helps.
  4. Thanks Pete I'll check that out and I'll try without border... dirtclod- I thought of that but I've never petal lifted. I would like to learn but I need the tool to do this also.
  5. Also because it's on black I can't get any depth to show up so I have to make up for that in how I bevel or tool.
  6. I guess that would work!!
  7. Leather workers, Here is a photo of what I'm working on. I need this to look like a bullet hole and it will be in black leather. I got the image off of the internet but when tooled it looks like a odd flower. I need depth where the bullet goes through and any suggestions otherwise I'd appreciate. Thanks a bunch!
  8. Has anyone on here tried Eco-Flo easy carve conditioner? I thought I'd try it since I felt I was getting some drag when carving. The result I got was I had no control over the swivel knife. I was all over the leather and the knife would slip farther than my stopping point. It almost would even drag worse. Couldn't make smooth a radius....My other question is should I sharpen my knife rather that strop? Maybe I've stropped off my nice edge? Suggestions please!
  9. Ooo la la! Excellent work!
  10. Those are really nice! They look very high quality.
  11. It looks like an edge creaser.
  12. That's got to be some interesting reading!!! Thanks for sharing.
  13. I make a series of elongated s shapes with the swivel knife and as you approach a corner shorten up the s to make the turn. Then I bevel.
  14. I carve mine by hand and then bevel. I feel you can be more creative by making it flow in curves if you want. Here is an example of my rope.
  15. I guess I didn't know you could screw up a tape measure. lol Where did you get that thing?? Anyway I would still be cautious of buying leather off of Ebay.
  16. Very very NICE! Awesome detail and dying!
  17. Being in the woodworking business for 25 years, I would think Minwax would work. It might not get as dark as the leather dyes though. The oils in the stains might even make it easier to put on. I don't know if Minwax makes water base but don't use it if they do.
  18. This is EXACTLY why I won't buy leather on Ebay... I've had a similar problem selling an item and I knew I was right but the whole situation got out of hand. He gave me a negative feedback and just more or less called me a liar and told other Ebayers I was trouble to deal with...I'd rather order from Tandy than get ripped off on Ebay. Springfield leather is good though too. Now you've got me all worked up! lol
  19. Wow, a really thought out outfit! Great detail for design and color and you're going to be a hit at Halloween!
  20. http://vimeo.com/2397998 Here is a great video about making western holsters. They have a really nice web site too.
  21. Well since no one else has answered I would think the oil dye would spread more evenly. I'm considering changing to oil dyes instead of the regular. I have had a little trouble with blotchiness with the regular dyes. My leather even seems a little bit dry after dying. If it's anything like wood dye it should be easier to apply. Maybe someone else can chime in here to help us out.
  22. WOW, you've been busy! Nice looking stuff. Good luck at the show.
  23. Most recent seat.
  24. Very nice... I like your design too! You took a great photo. You can see every detail.
  25. Opps, yes it's dot net! Sorry! www.accufast2d.net These are 10 gauge pans!
