  1. I carve mine by hand and then bevel. I feel you can be more creative by making it flow in curves if you want. Here is an example of my rope.
  2. I guess I didn't know you could screw up a tape measure. lol Where did you get that thing?? Anyway I would still be cautious of buying leather off of Ebay.
  3. Very very NICE! Awesome detail and dying!
  4. Being in the woodworking business for 25 years, I would think Minwax would work. It might not get as dark as the leather dyes though. The oils in the stains might even make it easier to put on. I don't know if Minwax makes water base but don't use it if they do.
  5. This is EXACTLY why I won't buy leather on Ebay... I've had a similar problem selling an item and I knew I was right but the whole situation got out of hand. He gave me a negative feedback and just more or less called me a liar and told other Ebayers I was trouble to deal with...I'd rather order from Tandy than get ripped off on Ebay. Springfield leather is good though too. Now you've got me all worked up! lol
  6. Wow, a really thought out outfit! Great detail for design and color and you're going to be a hit at Halloween!

    Oil Dye

Well since no one else has answered I would think the oil dye would spread more evenly. I'm considering changing to oil dyes instead of the regular. I have had a little trouble with blotchiness with the regular dyes. My leather even seems a little bit dry after dying. If it's anything like wood dye it should be easier to apply. Maybe someone else can chime in here to help us out.
  9. WOW, you've been busy! Nice looking stuff. Good luck at the show.
  10. Very nice... I like your design too! You took a great photo. You can see every detail.
  11. Opps, yes it's dot net! Sorry! www.accufast2d.net These are 10 gauge pans!
  12. Not for sure what styles you're looking for but I get mine here www.accufast2d.com and fast at shipping too.
  13. I love Stickley too! Nice for a first try. Sometimes I think dying is trial and error. The more you do the better you'll get. Good job!
  14. Thanks for the pictorial too! It's interesting to see how it all comes together.
  15. Just beautiful! Love the all colors and the meticulous stitching. Fine work! Do you have anything else to show us?
  16. Very nice! Can you clue me in on what Royal Meadow is? I guess I need to look it up.
  17. Very, very nice Spinner. You've been busy! I really like the wrapped side covers and the twist off pocket idea. Very cool!
  18. Very nice, I like the mexican braid too!
  19. I wasn't going to comment but, I know what Ferg is saying and some people just spit it out. Hopefully Ferg doesn't spit it out on any of MY work... lol... But about the tape measure, practice will make you better. Some people just have a knack or talent for just about anything they put their hands to. If leatherwork is something you enjoy, each piece should show improvement. I know that you will look back on past pieces and say" Ew, I made that??" I HAVE DONE THIS! So just continue to move ahead on the next project and scour the forum for help. There's alot of information that's invaluable here. Good luck.
  20. Also where did you get your rivets? They look very nice. Thanks
  21. Yes, your phone takes photos like mine. Looks like a good job though and show us the finished product too. Your mother will love it!
  22. Nice job! I like the color variation. What are you forming the leather to in the 1st photo? Are you using a rubber cement to hold it in place while drying?
  23. The stand is a great idea for showing. Nice job!
