  7. bob as always you have done another beautiful piece of work, you forgotten to mention that you built and tooled, this beautiful piece in just 3 days. it would have taken me 3 weeks. also everbody can view this work of art this weekend, on line under (art of the cowboy makers ) in the leather carving section. again bob another beautful piece. john ivy
  8. i agree that what ever you make needs to have your maker stamp on it, most of mine are placed on the back, but if i built a piece for any of my customers and didnt put a makers stamp thgey would return it just for that reason. i never use the same pattern twice everbody get a new pattern drawn up just for them, all my customers now are willing to by the orignal drawing of there patterns and have them framed and all of the even want the drawing signed and dated. this is just my personal opion but we all work to hard at doing what we do not to get credit for it. john ivy
  9. hello yehagirl, i have never use the pre made interior i usally make all my interios, but the way i would do that , is tool my outside cover then glue the pre made interior into place the sew around the outside with my machine just as if you had made the interior your self. the edge the edges and slick and dye. there again i have never used a pre-made interior but i have seen them and they are real nice. hope this helps john
  10. mike, i also dont do holsters but have done a lot of inlays with cowhide you can see them on my gallery, so if i can help just send me a message and i will try to help out. john ivy/sgt/usmc/5811
  11. wood, i use a alder 206-64 to sew things with a gussett, and i also have a consew table top machine. i think if you try the brass feet from e.c.leather you will be vary pleased with them, they work great and are easy to install. thanks for the compliment i really like the tooling job you did on the shaving kit john
  12. i agree with bruce that putting feet on the bag is a good idea i put them on all my purses i build i buy mine at e.c. leather in tulsa they are brass and they have two prongs that just bend over on the inside i also put a stiffner in the bottom of my purses, the only thing i use for a gusset is i have a hide split to 2 to 3 oz for all my gussets. that way the gussett and the tooling leather all match. good job on the bag john

  15. i think you did a fine job on the bag, did you hand sew the bag, the only thing i would have done different is sew the stitch lenght at no less than 8 stiches per in or 10 per inch if possible i think it would have given it a lot cleaner look. but that is just my personal opion. but still a great job john
