OK, so what exactly happened?

I made quite a few bookmarks with Tandy's Celtic Rune letters and had the same concern. So, I ended up typing the words/letters into a computer program the way I wanted them to be then printed that out as my template to trace on the bookmarks. I also put a faint center line down the middle to line them up. Most turned out great but I had a little jumping of the letters - that is just my skill issue. I am hoping to make jig like has been discussed in another thread - then it should work out great. Good luck

I tend to use Olive Oil without much issues. I would be concerned of the purity of most baby oil and avoid scents. There are several topics on here about oils so I suggest a search if you dont get the answers directly here.

Most of the items here are made with veggie tan leather of various thickness. There are many websites that will give you some good info like :http://kingsmerecrafts.com/ but this site will be a great resource. As a beginner, I would suggest getting some of the ebooks that Tandy sells on their digital library: http://www.leathercraftlibrary.com/c-79-ebooks.aspx . A few to think about: ABC's of leatherworking, the art of making cases 1,2,3 or encyclopedia of saddle making. These are very foundational books that will get you up to speed pretty quick.

I have not used yet but the reviews for the new Tandy Professional dyes seems to be pretty good on this site.
