That's OK Dave - thanks anyway ( I can tell you if you want to learn though) . Wild Rose, I did not realize that your instructions were one in the same as here- yours is slightly better resolution but does not print too well either. I can read it OK but want to print for mom. If you have a better one please do resend - if not that is OK. Thank you for your help! That's OK Dave - thanks anyway ( I can tell you if you want to learn though) . Hi Dave, I was having trouble with the resolution of the leather roses sheet you posted when I try to print it out. Any chance you can send it to me in PDF? Mostly just the instructions page - it is hard to read. Thanks for your consideration! ss2106113@yahoo.com

Thank you, I have been doing this for about 3 months and having a blast. -
Wow, great job!

I can see some areas needing improvement but overall I am happy with it. It will be a gift for my Dad for Dad's day. What do you think?

Some great possibilities! -
I have made a batch of vinegroon and have been experimenting a bit with satisfactory results. I am still learning the "strength" so I can control the color but now I want to do a holster from a Tandy kit. My concern is that the holster has a snap on it and I dont want to ruin the hardware. Any ideas on how to protect the rivet? A prior sample rusted pretty good. I typically dip the item in to the vinegroon.

First Two Sheaths

That is a very nice start - keep up the practice and work on your edges. There are a lot of good tips for great edges on here. I like your arrow. -
A few ideas: Tandy has a kit that you can buy or look at for inspiration. Tandy also sells Al Stohlman books called "the art of making leather cases vol 1,2, 3" that will take you through the steps to make just about anything.

Nice, I like the color too. So, is that the natural color of the kangaroo or did you stain/dye? If so, what color did you use? -
Nice job!

3/4 Oz. Leather And Other Questions...
Wishful replied to Chris of WV's topic in Leatherwork Conversation
You could do a lot of coin purses with that weight, maybe wallets with liners, lots of things.... I just got my first side too so am considering all of the possibilities! What I am going to attempt is a holster. I will use a 7/8oz back and a double layer of the 3/4oz on the front - which I will have an inlay in. ... If I can figure it all out ; ) -
Thanks for the info, Glynn

Cowhide Holster Front?
Wishful replied to Wishful's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
That looks nice Dave, and probably the way I will go but did you line the holster front since it has the inlay? Also, did you sew the inlay by hand or machine? Thanks. -
I was considering making a holster (The Tandy minimal) but want it to match a knife/magazine holder that I made with cow hide (hair on) on the front. Do you think the cowhide only would be OK for the front of the holster but still use the kit back (about 7-8oz)? If so, do you think I should use a backer or stiffener (what do suggest?) As an alternative I suppose I could do this with cowhide as an inlay only and put a 1-2oz liner. Any thoughts? Thanks.
