  1. From the album: WinterBear's Stuff

Here I've placed on old letterpress cut/stamp/block on some cased leather between some lino blocks and clamped it all together.
  2. Nice wallets. I especially like the rich tones of the dyes on these.
  3. Did you sew it with the Janome? Color me impressed. Excellent job on the binding, and the overall look. My camera also shows certain shades of purples as brilliant blue, no matter what white balance I use, and I'm not sure why.
  4. Hi Gage. Welcome. There are some users that do attach horns to helmets and the like, and they might be able to give you some tips. It might be a while before they pop online though. While you wait, browse the Historical Reenactment section to really have some fun. This thread in particular might be of use: http://leatherworker.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=32713 I can recommend these threads as well: http://leatherworker.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=41977 http://leatherworker.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=42732 http://leatherworker.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=33266
  5. Beautifully made valets with excellent attention to detail. Do you make them just in one size, or do you make them in different sizes?
  6. That is incredible. Can I beg you for a closeup of the eagle? I'd love to be able to see it in more detail.
  7. The "cup" of a thistle flower is actually covered with small spikey scales or elongated bracts. Artichokes are members of the thistle family if that helps you visualize this. I've seen a small pointed mulesfoot used to make this effect rather than crosshatching with swivelknife cuts, but I unfortunately do not have a picture of this. Anyway, try looking at the thistles at these links and see if they give you any additional ideas. http://toto.lib.unca.edu/web_exhibits/museum_studies/fontaine/fontaine_nic_labels.htm http://img3.etsystatic.com/000/0/5685515/il_fullxfull.327597439.jpg
  8. Excellent name for your gear then-I wasn't 100% sure what you made. I thought it was seats, but got to thinking maybe you made stuff out of cow butt rather than shoulders or something, and got myself confused.
  9. It reads Buttskinz? You must have an interesting clientele. Do tell.
  10. You may have iron in your water? I do, and if I case with it, or dilute dyes or paints with it, it can cause speckling on the leather. Or if the unfinished leather is allowed anywhere near where metal was ground or steel wool was used. Usually, the speckling is hidden when I dye, so I don't worry about it much, and just use distilled water when I am doing anything that will be left natural, oil-tanned, or lightly tinted.

How about Amazon UK? http://www.amazon.co.uk/lexol-leather-cleaner-onditioner/s?ie=UTF8&page=1&rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3ALexol%20Leather%20Cleaner%2FConditioner Looks like maybe automotive places carry it too: http://www.motorgeek.co.uk/cgi-bin/ecom.cgi?Command=ShowProduct&db_pid=606

Jax, you might check any local Feed&Seed shops, or where people buy ranch equipment, horse tack, or horse feed. I buy Lexol at Murdoch's, which is a ranch supply, but it is also sold around here at one of our hardware stores that also happens to sell tubular fence section and a small selection of horse halters. It could be that somewhere local to you and that caters to horse folks carries it there in the UK.
  13. I think it is because it is new. When I was poking around on their site sometime in November, they only had the two bevelers, so this is a brand new model. Can't wait to see how it works.
  14. Looks like Zack White has the dies too, or something similar, in two different sizes. http://zackwhite.com...ection=0&page=1
  15. Nice. That's something on my to-do list for after the holidays. How did you decide to secure the Kindle?
  16. You can also contact Bruce Johnson, he's a memeber here. He sells quality old tools, and keeps a current listing of his inventory on his website. http://brucejohnsonleather.com/content/ and http://brucejohnsonleather.com/content/index.php/leather_tools_for_sale/leather-concho-punches-slot-punches-and-hole-punches/ for the punches. I've several tools I've bought from him, including punches, and he'll send you an excellent tool that is clean and sharp.
  17. Well, how about this then. Both of these are from the right hand side of each picture. The lower one has been rotated 180 degrees. The two red dots on each picture are to help orient the viewer.
  18. Looks like a repeat here. What do you all think?
  19. Does it cut at a 90 degree as well, for resizing lace? That's what the picture seems to show, but I can't be sure. I do want a beveler for cowhide lace, but if it will also allow me to resize any "wobbles", I'd be sold on it.
  20. Why not make decorator pillows/pillow covers and bolsters to match the furniture? http://www.etsy.com/shop/thundermoondesigns?section_id=5810146 http://www.decorinnovation.com/Leather_Pillow_p/pillow-leather.htm http://www.xianleather.com/Custom-Items2.html
  21. Try some of these links? I'm not sure if they are what you are looking for, but I enjoyed looking at them. http://fauconsphilou...-equipment.html http://bibliodyssey....5/falconry.html http://www.hawkworks.webs.com/bags.htm http://en.czech-unes...tion/?photoID=1 http://www.stanislavsfalconry.com/ http://www.highfiber.com/~bohemond/Bootshop/pouch-page/hawking-pouch.htm
  22. Aw... I'm sorry. Which ones were those and I'll keep an eyeball peeled?
