A Pair Of Leather Bike Seat By Pellegrino
Rhonda replied to pellegrino's topic in Motorcycles and Biker Gear
The black looks like it's just a stencil and can of spray paint. No depth or texture, to make it come alive. -

I know this post has not been used in a while, but so you all know. It is not legal for peeps to sell the doodles on ebay. If you report the seller, there account will be deactivated. I bought a doodle from a guy on ebay, he claimed it was an original. Suprise suprise no Staple holes, usually means it is a illegal copy. About a month later Ebay caught up with him and shut him down.

I have to agree with Luke, use the tools, to wear the plating off. I have found chrome flakes, after tooling a project. It is the chrome coming off on its own. Rhonda

Neatlac Replacement
Rhonda replied to rickeyfro's topic in Dyes, Antiques, Stains, Glues, Waxes, Finishes and Conditioners.
I recently made myself a card holder, for id etc. Used Super Shene for finish. I have noticed, when I keep it in my back pocket, the holder sticks to the inside of my jeans pocket. I did two coats shene, then antique, then shene. It is completely dry. Is it body heat causing the sticking? -
Oxalic acid question
Rhonda replied to TwinOaks's topic in Dyes, Antiques, Stains, Glues, Waxes, Finishes and Conditioners.
Poison, skin absorbtion, liver damage. Now this is a scary thought. Maybe my teacher was a little off, but he taught me to use Bleach to bleach leather. No acid, no crystals. 2 tablespoons Bleach, mixed with water. I use a 16 ounce pickle jar to store it. (cleaned out of course) I have NEVER used the acid stuff. He taught me bleach does exactly what the acid does, and a gallon of bleach goes a whole lot farther. -
Guess I am not up on things, what does Tashabear mean by INK IT IN, I was taught to get a craftaid pattern, by laying paper on craftaid (bumpy side) then rub the whole thing lightly with a pencil, trace that for darker lines, then you can reduce/enlarge with printer. Please enlighten me, I feel kinda dumb now.

Admin how about making it possible to search other members by the state they live in? My husband works bridge construction, we have to move every couple years. Maybe you know how hard it really is to find other leatherworkers? I do. I realize that was probably the motivation for this site, I just think the State search option would make it easier for all of us to connect. Please consider it Thank you, Rhonda

Hobby Lobby has a Circle Cutter for scrapbooking. Will cut thru thinner leathers, thicker leather it cuts mostly on top, you finish with shears. While it works pretty good, I won't give it a 10, cause if you don't use enough pressure to hold it down, the circle will widen. Hobby also carries the plastic templates, different size circles.

I started leather in Sept. 2004, stopped June 2005, when it was neccasary to have a regular job. Oct 2006, finally I can quit! Dabbled, making gifts mostly til May 2007. Car accident broke my right humorous in half, spiral with butterfly break, surgery put a rod in my arm from the shoulder to the elbow. No leather. June 2008 the hardware was taken out, Doc says rest the arm. Damn still no leather! Doc's ok or not, I am bored. I am officially a two timed beginner. But I LOVE IT, I loved it then, I love it now.

I myself am a crafter. I live in Louisiana. I have a girlfriend who lives in New Bern, NC. She wants to learn leathercraft. I cannot teach her from LA. She cannot find anyone in the area who does it. She is a hardworker and easy to get along with. If anyone is looking for a student please email her directly harleybabe136 at embarqmail dot com or email me at luvsofttails at aol dot com Thanks, Rhonda
