shadowryder replied to shadowryder's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
Thanks again, the 136 is not gonna be any use to me,I like the sound of the 153 but a little bit dubious of its condition based on that photo. I have tried to ask questions of the seller but was told "listing says ITEM IN WORKING ORDER thankyou,,"So he aint really a very helpful guy. Thats why I,m trying to ask as much as I can on here cos I know you guys will keep me strait like George, LOL!!! thanks again. JJ -

Billy P,and David, many thanks for your comments and advice, they are very much appreciated, I finally sold this seat on ebay this week for £80.00 GBP $137.48c The materials came to about a third of that because I made my own pan from 3mm steel plate. I will keep practicing and making stuff and one day hopefully I will be able to turn out work like yours David, This is my 5th seat and each gets a little better than the last,I have sold them all for between £50 to £80 GBP.and have managed to make a small profit on each. Thanks again to all that have commented.

Hi thanks for your comments, much obliged. This seat I made the pan myself with 3 mm steel plate cut to shape 13" long x 9" wide,I welded in an extra strip2" of 3 mm steel up the middle on the lower side as a spine for extra stength and welded in the bolts. for foam padding I used neoprene foam aprox 1.5" thick cut from a camping mat glued to the base with contact adhesive then shaped with a sanding disc. I did my tooling and After that I wet formed the leather onto the pan top and bottom then well I guess you know the rest. Hope this helps, thanks again for your comments on my seat.

Hi can anyone tell me what is the best "needle" / tool to use when lacing seats bags etc with 3/8ths or 1/4 inch lace, I have used the needle things with the 2 prongs n they do my head in, the brass screw in ones well if the lace snaps real close you cannot un screw it outa the end of the needle. So can anyone give me any ideas please. Thankyou,,
