The name on the spine of this book was done with lead printing type heated to 300 degrees.
Dampen your leather, heat the stamp in the oven, press it quickly into the leather (about 1 1/2 second) and you are done.

It is my understanding that none of the neatsfoot oil is real anymore. There are other oils that are called neatsfoot.
I use #1 saddle oil from bee natural.
Punch slits, not round holes. Round holes for round holes, flat holes are for flat lace.
A four slit punch is good, many more and the punch tends to get stuck and you can not pull it out of the leather.

Most of the time you can not cleanly separate the threads. Just buy machine thread in the size you want and way it with beeswax. Most prewaxed thread has way to much wax on it and many are waxed with paraffin instead of beeswax.
You are not using the same direction on every stitch. Always the same thread to the left/over the other thread and so on. you are switching up which thread is on which side.
